RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2019-02-11 (2019-02-10, 20:17)brazen1 Wrote: Warner, I have great respect for you and your technical expertise but I feel like I've intruded on sacred ground or something? I'm going to make an attempt to reply and please don't find my words offensive. I was just arguing the other side. I know everything seems to be working fine for you, but that doesn't mean upgrading to v18 would immediately work well for everyone. (2019-02-10, 20:17)brazen1 Wrote: To gawk at KODI's solution is disrespectful. To pick it apart and compare to madVR challenges casual users into shying away from even using KODI convinced it will be problematic with horrible results or worse... that KODI isn't compatible with UHD HDR at all by telling them "no" because it doesn't passthrough. Many of these folks are just searching for a way to play UHD HDR and they don't have computer science degrees nor the ambition to seek every last ounce of quality and performance. They just want to know if they can watch UHD on their TV somehow and ran across KODI while searching around. I don't know why criticizing Kodi's HDR -> SDR processing is disrespectful. I think the image you posted looks great, but I was saying the color science isn't 100% accurate. This requires someone with a specialized background. Many HDR test scenes have been unearthed in the past year at AVS Forum that could be used to test the accuracy of Kodi's conversion. I know it wouldn't pass some of those tests based on the method used. It is just color science. (2019-02-10, 20:17)brazen1 Wrote: Plopping a non-delivering unwatchable new build after years of careful development with all platforms considered just for the sake of dishing something out whether it works or not? No, of course not yet you're convinced that's what has occurred. Don't know what to tell you. I tried. All I've managed is to be made to look like an ass. Maybe a couple pics will help back up what I write. These are both v.18.1 VideoPlayer with nothing additional and O/S HDR is turned off as it always is. I think the 2nd screenshot looks pretty decent but if you still find it far from looking ok, then it is what it is. You don't need to tell me madVR rendered players look better again. That's why I use them. Ashlar, I can't guarantee you will get the same results for your friend. I can only provide my own experience and hope it helps and encourages you. Again, I was just arguing the other side. v18 has changed a lot on Windows in terms of having a new 64-bit build and that has introduced some new issues. Maybe it is more stable; maybe it is less stable. Stability could be more important to DSPlayer users more than any new unappreciated features. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Jachin99 - 2019-02-11 Timeshifiting for the next pvr add-on is broken for versions before Kodi 18. So has anyone setup a media portal pvr for Kodi ds? Even at a mere 720p -> 1080p, the latter is sharper and cleaner. The image is considerably cleaner with fewer artifacts.@Warner306 I would like to use DSPlayer for streaming content but havent had much success with increasing the buffer, I have an advancedsettings.xml which increases my network buffer to 400MB (as I have 8G RAM). Videoplayer honors it and fills up the buffer to get smoothplayback, but DSPlayer only fills about 6seconds (720p) worth buffer and so stutters when playing highbitrate streams. Any tips or tricks to get DSPlayer use the configured buffer, please? So once I have viewed 3 channels I start to get no tuner found messages in kodi, and NPVR I just recording my previous channels in its live TV Buffer. The somewhat generic answer I got in the next pvr kodi forums was that timeshifiting has issues for kodi builds before V18. I would love to use it but right now I'm looking at media portal. I'm also going to ping ServerWMC's dev to see if I can figure out some way to make that work with Kodi DS. It seems like I just need to write the rules for the filtersconfig.xml and mediasconfig.xml but we'll see.(2019-02-09, 21:57)Warner306 Wrote: I would miss DSPlayer the most for Internet streaming video content. Where are you finding streams with such high bitrates? The streams that I am trying to play are the HDR launch playlist from youtube. Streams smoothly with Videoplayer but looks washed out as it does not handle HDR at all on Krypton, DSPlayer plays it correctly with HDR passthru to the TV but stutters as it does not use the network cache. So if DSPlayer by nature won't use cache, then so be it PS: Just used the Youtube app on my Panasonic TV and it plays the HDR launch playlist smoothly with proper HDR processing. Will use it that way instead of Kodi RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - ayeroff - 2019-02-13 Hoping someone can help me resolve a problem displaying embedded subtitles in some of my MKV files. All of my movies (Bluray and UHD Bluray) are ripped to MKV files. One some (mostly UHD Blurays), the embedded subtitles for foreign languages or alien languages do not display when watching the movie in Kodi DSPlayer. But if I play the same file in VLC Media Player, the subtitles play correctly. For example: In the UHD Bluray of Marvel's Black Panther, there are subtitles for all of the Wakandan/African words. The subtitles show up perfectly in VLC Media Player, but not Kodi DSPlayer. I've confirmed that the subtitles are flagged as Default and Forced in MKVToolNix, so I suspect I just have something configured wrong in Kodi DSPlayer. Any suggestions for a fix RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - ashlar - 2019-02-13 (2019-02-13, 04:57)gujal Wrote: Internet is fine as I told you it plays fine with Videoplayer (100Mbps Fibre to the home).Check this guide, to change how LAV Filters use cache. https://superuser.com/questions/842203/how-to-make-mpc-hc-to-cache-more-aggressively It mentions MPC-HC but LAV is used by DSPlayer too, there's nothing actually related to MPC-HC in the guide. Just LAV modifications. Edit: it looks like now those things are configurable directly through LAV Splitter control panel: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1865523#post1865523 RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2019-02-13 (2019-02-13, 04:57)gujal Wrote:So DSPlayer will play HDR streams natively without any required programming? But if I play the same file in VLC Media Player, the subtitles play correctly.I ran into one other person who had this issue. It is strange because I have working PGS subtitles for both Blu-ray and UHD in mkv format. Can you select the subtitle stream manually during video playback with the audio settings menu? You could try using VSFilter instead of XySubFilter for subtitles. To do this, you would have to install these external filter files as described under DSPlayer Starter Kit and replace the reference to xysubfilter with xyvsfilter: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=222576&pid=1966557#pid1966557 The syntax for xyvsfilter should match the name used for xyvsfilter in filterconfig.xml. You would only have to add if for the rule referencing mkv files to test. External LAV Filters are also required as these files automatically use external rather than internal filters. The other fix would be to download and add .srt subtitles to these files. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - ayeroff - 2019-02-13 Warner306 - Thank you so much for the help! To answer your question: I am able to select the subtitle stream during playback, but the subtitles still do not show up on screen. I'm hoping you can help me better understand how to use VSFilter instead of XySubFilter. From reading the how to link, it appears I need to edit the filtersconfig.xml file, but I can't seem to even find it When I look in the userdata\dsplayer folder, I don't have a filtersconfig.xml or mediasconfig.xml. Am I looking in the wrong location? Sorry if these are dumb questions. Every time I think I'm getting the hang of Kodi DSPlayer, I find that I still have lots to learn! Thanks again for your help in walking me through what I need to do. I really appreciate it. Also, in case it matters, I'm using the 64bit version of Kodi DSPlayer and version 0.92.12 of MadVR. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Jachin99 - 2019-02-13 Those might be created when you add new rules via the kodi interface. Try creating them yourself and if it doesn't work out you can simply take them out of that folder. I pinged a few PVR developers to see if we can get some expanded support for live TV so wish me luck there!! RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - ayeroff - 2019-02-14 I think I got it fixed. I went back through each of the LAV Splitter settings. When I unchecked "Bluray (PGS) deliver only forced subtitles" the subtitles started displaying correctly. Not exactly sure WHY this fixed the problem, since the subtitle track in question is flagged as Forced But regardless, I think my issue is fixed. I'll have to test with several other movies to confirm, but I think I'm finally on the right track. Thank you all for the help! Hopefully this info can help someone else who experiences a similar problem. I did not play the video using youtube addon, the addon only plays 1080p stream even for those 4K HDR videos on youtube.
