Hello ashlar, could you give further details on your component versions and madvr settings ?
version of madvr (0.92.17 or alpha version?) , windows , lavfilter ?
madvr settings for hdr and full screen or windowed mode as those may cause hdr not switching off problem after player stop?
I will try to provide you with as much info as possible, just need to get to my HTPC which is currently not the easiest thing to do. But I'll try.
madVR is madvrhdrmeasure163, LAV is 0.76.1. madVR is set up as to go into windowed fullscreen, not fullscreen exclusive.

madVR HDR is configured like this:

Windows is Windows 10 Pro x64, 21H1, build 19043.1766, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0

Kodi is Kodi DSPlayer 17.6 32 bit (I use Reclock, so I need to use the 32 bit version)

RTX3070 is using Nvidia drivers 516.59

I will try to copy part of your configuration to see if it fixes TV HDR switching off on video stop issue with madvr and nvidia rtx30xx card (i have windows 10 21h2 LTSC to begin with) 
I wonder if madvr HDR tonemapping mode will trigger LG Oled TV HDR mode.

I've had an issue where if I leave a video paused for 30 minutes or more Kodi/MadVR? completely locks up and won't play/stop or do anything. I had to add a button to my remote to kill the Kodi process for this specific situation. Honestly not anything I've ever investigated closely though because it's just so rare that I don't stop a video. I'm using an older nvidia card.

Turns out it was my screensaver settings that got messed up and was causing it.

Tone map mode still activates HDR mode as long as you have that HDR mode thing checked off under it.  This did nothing on my 3090 to help it return to normal after an HDR video though.  as long as If i use anything newer than madvrhdrtonemap113 I either don't get HDR mode to activate or it opens up in some weird window and doesn't work.  If I use a very old driver it will return but then I can't play any games on that PC, heh. Right now i just have an AutoHotKey script set up so it restarts Kodi with CTRL+K after it returns from HDR.

I have Dsplayr 17.7 but with the Lavfilters maybe old 0.70

I would like to update them to the latest version 0.71 but it installs them in a different folder than DSplayer.
How do I get the latest LAVfilters from the DSPlayer?

A.  I strongly suggest leaving this version as it is ancient.
B.  There is a folder in the Kodi folder that has the LAV files, replace them with the new ones.  I don't know the specifics offhand now as I did this years ago, but that was the easiest way for me to update them.

everything works, but unfortunately I continue to have Kodi crash on exit.

That is... everything is ok when I start a movie and forward or backward, but when I press stop and go back to the menu Kodi crashes.

I'm trying them all, Kodi with MAdVR is great but this issue is wearing me down.

Do you use Kodi or madVR to switch refresh rate? I would try the other method and see if the problem persists. Plus a debug log could help in understanding what happens (see my signature).

On Kodi it is active... on MadVR I don't know even if I think it is deactivated. In which section do I find the option on MadVR?

For the Log I see your instructions, I tried once but I couldn't.

I hope I have done the procedure correctly:
here is the log, basically when I finish watching a movie and I press "Stop" Kodi crashes. First try to go to the menu and then buy me a Windows box with Kodi error.
