For swap, try ruunning configrpi256.sh to enable swap and increase swappiness.

cachemembuffers sounds like an old/deprecated setting. Try not to include settings in advancedsettings.xml unless you are sure you need them - trust the defaults, as old settings are likely to make performance worse than better.

Thnx for the explanation. Ran the configrpi256.sh (ran it before succesfully on one of your Jan. builds) but with #505, both the swap.conf and autostart.sh files are created/modified but the swapfile itself isn't. Done some testing (delete both swap.conf and autostart.sh) and it seems like you don't need to create a swapfile anymore. Without it performance is very much OK, considering it's a 256 MB Pi.

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 15.0) Part 2 - Gizmo81 - 2015-05-06

Hi, I have a more or less reproducible error with 3D movies.
If "Use full HD HDMI Modes for 3D" isn't disabled some movies won't start,
I only have HDMI sync until I press stop and other movies start but have HDMI resync while playing.
If function is turned of at moment everything is running. Then a second thing, if I activate the function
to select 2D or 3D visualisation before movie starts I only get sound and video is still in main menu with 2D or 3D.
This problem I have with every Testbuild so far!
Thanks
Giz

Quote:Yes it's still needed, otherwise browsing results too slow.
@slack3r

Are you aware that with many lists in Kodi interface you can utilize horizontal arrows on remotes/keyboards as well as the vertical arrows in order to switch "between" stepping vertically through individual items, to paging through items lists and vise-versa. I only mention this as I found it recently almost by chance and find it very useful and much quicker with long listings.

@MikeKL
Thank you for reply.

Yes I am, but it's not the same thing. CEC remote control is not usable without popcornmix's commits.

No pvr update for TVHeadend.?

pvr.hts is an update to TVHeadened frontend and Milhouse has also kindly provided updates to the TVHeadend backend service, you just need to read back through some posts in this thread Wink

i.e. within #503 for TVHeadend backend (download relevant additional available addon zip) and then #505 for pvr.hts (see updates mentioned within #505 text)

Awesome.. Thank you for the reply..

I actually only use the front end for TVHeadend on the Pi as my tuners are elsewhere.

That's great, thanks for confirming at least one of the PVR addons is working! Smile

For anyone experiencing Kodi restarts - crashlogs are the minimum required to investigate further.

A crashlog from a debug-enabled build is best as the standard crashlog doesn't always contain the required information, but these debug-enabled builds require a FAT partition of 380MB or so - if you can resize your FAT partition please do so. I've uploaded debug builds based on #0505 here: RPi / RPi2

I just installed the last one. It's a little faster, the boot is faster. Really cool Milhouse.

I'm using DVBLink at the moment, (Looking to switch back to TVHeadend)

I was getting crashes and freezes while watching live TV when i upgraded to build 505.. I had OMXplayer disabled but when I enabled it, it appears to have fixed the issue.. PVR works fine at the moment.

Mort..

Enabling OMXPlayer hasn't fixed the issue at all, you've just found a way to avoid it. Upload your crashlog so that the issue has a chance of being fixed.

Ran the configrpi256.sh rebooted and "free" reports:

Code:
OpenELEK:~ # free
             total         used         free       shared      buffers
Mem:        139176       111416        27760         4716        12320
-/+ buffers:              99096        40080
Swap:       133448          304       133144

Swap seems to be enabled but I can't find the swapfile. #0506 behaves the same. The GUI (System, System info, Hardware) reports 69MB free memory (was about 80MB without swap configured on #0505).

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 15.0) Part 2 - Milhouse - 2015-05-07

The filename of the swapfile will be: /storage/.cache/swapfile
Code:
# ls -la /storage/.cache/swapfile
-rw-------    1 root     root     134217728 Jan  1  1970 /storage/.cache/swapfile
or check with "cat /proc/swaps":
Code:
# cat /proc/swaps
Filename                                Type            Size    Used    Priority
/storage/.cache/swapfile                file            131068  20      10000
