Milhouse, probably a dumb question, but can i use your rpi2 builds on wetek play?

There are some fixes for n-wireless with newer kernels where there was a struct out of alignment, among other things, and the patches in OE/packages/linux-drivers/RTL8188EU/patches are no longer needed as well.

I'll include the latest commits from the rtl8188eu repo for the next few builds, and I've uploaded a Pi2 test build based on #0519 with the new RTL8188EU commits here. However I don't want to carry these commits long term, so if they're of any benefit you'll need to pester the OpenELEC developers so that master is updated.

Thanks. I'll test it out. About 50 commits over the past 15 months for RTL8188EU lol. Should help.

EDIT: @Milhouse I guess no need to add this to the next few days builds, as I still have packet loss (about half as many packets for the same Tx though), and I still have the random failed video starts. Log is pretty much the same as well: http://sprunge.us/GbKg

Since none of my other devices have an dropped packets, and this Pi is the closest device to my router, I am going to just assume its a hardware/antenna problem.
I have ordered a Panda PAU06 which I think is supported with the mt7601u driver, and has an external antenna.

How about disable power saving?

No, you cannot.

Thanks. Taken a bit of hacking, but I've got your file too play and I can see the speed speed up/down.
That's the first step to solving the problem...
That's good. Let me know if I can help with testing. I'm currently staying on #0513 as this is the most recent build which is usable for live tv.

Different architecture therefore not possible.

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 15.0) Part 2 - cudencuden - 2015-05-20

i tried a 720p, constant quality 20, variable framerate, fast decode unchecked. and the playback was a bit choppy.I'm not too worried about it. pretty happy with the file size vs. quality with fast decode enabled.

OE does provide WETEK builds now, there should also be a OE 6.0 beta (Kodi v15) version available.

Variable framerate is generally not good for smooth playback (your TV is fixed framerate).
But upload a sample (e.g. 1 minute long) and we can check if there are any slow bits that are going through an unoptimised path.

uh....i don't think i can...or should...lol...u know..it's one of "those" clips...i will try your suggest of not using variable frame rate though...thanks,

I got strange behavier with play time at live stream.
Why don't reset played time? Is it bug or addon error?
Stream cannot play again with reboot.

Yes, there is. I'm using it. Openelec testbuilds from Milhouse on rpi2 are, by far, much better, faster then the 6.0 beta for wetek.

My rpi2 with Milhouse builds seems to be quicker even with wetek better hardware on openelec.

Shame it didn't help, hopefully the next dongle works better.

OpenELEC master is now also updated with the latest RTL8188EU commits.

That's because Kodi on RPI is around for quite some time and popcornmix and others optimized the PI specific stuff in Kodi as well as the PI's firmware to run as rock solid and fast as it does right now. Given that Wetek is rather new it's working really well, but there is ofc room for improvements.
There are for sure some tweaks in Milhouse builds that would also benefit other embedded devices (like the wait animation change, not calculating total duration on lists, ...), they just didn't make it to the core yet.

I understand that. Wetek is really nice, with eveything needed on it, remote as well. Hope that someone, soon, can make testbuilds for wetek as well.

For now i'm playing with wetek and enjoying rpi2 (thanks Milhouse, popcornmix and all others that put great work in these testbuilds for us to enjoy).
