ZIDOO X1 - csgabe - 2015-05-25 ZIDOO X1 is an Allwinner H3 based box. They claim KODI support: Quote:Builtin CedarX engine is with most powerful hardware decoding, completely rewritten by ZIDOO, KODI 14.2 can support hardware accelerationMore details here: http://www.zidoo.tv/Product/index/model/X1/target/AjLkU%5Bld%5DqhKb8%3D.html RE: ZIDOO X1 - Ned Scott - 2015-05-25 "most powerful" hahahaha. I wouldn't use that box even if you paid me to. IIRC, CedarX is the reason we tell people to avoid Allwinner-based hardware. RE: ZIDOO X1 - techespaces - 2015-05-25 (2015-05-25, 09:34)Ned Scott Wrote: "most powerful" +1 Allwinner is worst platform for any serious multimedia playback. At end people are forced to use external player such as MX Player and so on. There are several generations of Allwinner SOC's on market from single to octa core and situation is same for many years, CedarX remain closed source without any support or willing from Allwinner side to make it working with such beautiful piece of software like Kodi is. Recently there was hoax with new CedarX as they included ffmpeg as part of closed source but thanks to some people they were discovered and forced to comply with GPL. http://www.cnx-software.com/2015/03/23/allwinner-cedarx-media-codec-library-gpl-lgpl-compliance-update/ All prople should avoid Allwinner if they expect any serious playback. RE: ZIDOO X1 - RockerC - 2015-05-25 Let's wait a little and see if ZIDOO releases all required source source or if they just point their fingers at Allwinner as other manufactures using their chips have done http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=221855 http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=154492 Not keeping my hopes up as most likely ZIDOO is already now violating the GPL and LGPL licenses that Kodi source code files is about under and will refuse compliance, just like VidOn.Me http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=207004 http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=223838 Same goes for violating the Kodi trademarks and copyrights, again just like with VidOn.Me http://www.zidoo.tv/Support/faq.html RE: ZIDOO X1 - mirror88 - 2015-06-03 We downloaded the standard KODI version and made playing test with Allwinner H3, found most of blue-ray film sources with 1080P would not play smoothly. The analysis shown: The standard XMBC is base on Media Decode, and video buffer through the Linux Render GLES Render: It led to not fast enough, after a couple of copy video buffer that’s from the Decode to Render. After many times of discussions with our R&D team, we decided to dock OMX decode and HWComposer of Allwinner directly. In this way, it can realize the video buffer with ZERO copy, and it’s totally size up the fluency of playing. Look forward to having a look at your code - where is it hosted? RE: ZIDOO X1 - mirror88 - 2015-06-08 ZIDOO is holding on a giveaway-activity for ZIDOO X1. You can go and see if you are interested in. http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/big-hit-get-it-for-free-zidoo-x1.349/ RE: ZIDOO X1 - RockerC - 2015-06-08 (2015-06-08, 05:45)mirror88 Wrote: ZIDOO is holding on a giveaway-activity for ZIDOO X1. RE: ZIDOO X1 - movie78 - 2015-06-08 They should just give these devices to members of this hardware thread for better opinion. Some site sent me a box because I said we would be willing to test things, but we were not willing to give reviews or links in exchange for hardware. They seemed to understand that, and sent a box (not a zidoo), then asked when they would see the review. Wat? So when the box arrived I didn't pay it much attention, other than the fan that was GLUED ON and fell off, lol. I wouldn't mind running it over ;) RE: ZIDOO X1 - mirror88 - 2015-06-09 @RockerC Please pay close attention to https://github.com/zidootech. We will open sources one by one, KODI for zidoo x9, record for zidoo x9, a series of applications developed by ZIDOO. As you know, there are many Chinese factories that they are without any R&D strength. What they can do just use the original SDK with original factory, and without any R&D investment; or just waiting for others to open sources for some key applications, then copy and compete with a low price. However, ZIDOO has inveted plenty of energy for R&D. We have 50+ software engineers who have been working to improve user experience and perfect system to make it more stable. Meanwhile, we'd like to improve this ecological with doing some meaningful things, to make more developers have fun during participating in it. But before that, I'm afraid we have to consider the survival of our whole team. So, please allow us to take it a little slow, to keep some competitive advantages in the appropriate period of time. RE: ZIDOO X1 - Martijn - 2015-06-09 @mirror88 Let me point you at our Trademark policy. Which states that you may not release a "Kodi" version called "Kodi" without our explicit permission. http://kodi.wiki/view/Official:Trademark_Policy Since you are providing/selling these boxes, any one who owns a box is entitled to receive the source code at request without any exceptions. Saying you will release the source code in the future is not acceptable in these situation. You are also including superrepo which is strictly prohibited. As such you should immediately halt shipping Kodi or using it's name. RE: ZIDOO X1 - j1nx - 2015-06-09 Oh, Oh, OH, Jolly Joy... Can I join already ? Sorry, couldn't resist. |
