Multiple discs per movie - Deriv - 2015-06-01

I'm trying to understand how to best work with tmm together with my movie collection.

The collection is organized like this

../movies/Film A/VIDEO_TS/
../movies/Film B/Disc 1/VIDEO_TS
../movies/Film B/Disc 2/VIDEO_TS

out of the box tmm doesn't get movies that have multiple discs. Is there anything I can do about it?

RE: Multiple discs per movie - myron - 2015-06-02

well, yes, you are right.
up to now (at least, the last time i checked), Kodi didn't support this with extracted DVD folders (aka folder stacking)
Only single files (like .iso) worked.
This is what currently is supported within TMM

According to doku change back in March, this seems now supported:
http://kodi.wiki/view/File_stacking#Split_video_files_.28file_stacking.29

Added it to our TODO list, thanks for reporting.

Have to check wether we can use this schema
../movies/Film B/Disc 1/VIDEO_TS
../movies/Film B/Disc 2/VIDEO_TS
or that one:
../movies/Film B Disc 1/VIDEO_TS
../movies/Film B Disc 2/VIDEO_TS
(depends on Kodi - we probably don't make this configureable...)

Folder stacking is clearly a bigger part on our side... so don't expect this in the next release...

Thanks for the reply & looking forward to test the new feature when it's ready

I also have an issue with stacking DVD folder rips... I followed the instructions at

http://kodi.wiki/view/File_stacking#Split_video_files_.28file_stacking.29

My structure is:

Amadeus (1984) DVD1\VIDEO_TS\(IFOs, BUPs, VOBs)
Amadeus (1984) DVD2\VIDEO_TS\(IFOs, BUPs, VOBs)

Kodi does not stack them and it detects them as "Video Clip (2007)." I have run through all the options listed in the wiki for "CD" or "Disc" etc. If I just leave one of the folder names "Amadeus (1984)" that movie is scanned into the database perfectly, but of course it is only the first disc. If I name them "Amadeus (1984) Disc 1" and "Amadeus (1984) Disc 2" Kodi can't scrape them at all, which is somehow better than detecting them as "video clip."

My "solution" has been to let Kodi skip over them and then go into File List and manually update the Movie Information so that they both appear in the library as "Amadeus," after which I can rename how they appear in the Library to be "Amadeus Disc 1" and "Amadeus Disc 2," so I know what I'm going to watch, but obviously they are not stacked.

As an aside, there are no menus, and this is not truly a two disc set. I bought this disc before dual layer DVDs were being manufactured en masse, You actually had to take the disc out and flip it over, like a record. Smile

Also. I do realize I can make an MKV or another format out of these, but that is not what I am looking to do. I do have reasons why I want to keep my titles in VIDEO_TS. Is there a way to manually create a stack aside from using some kind of coding?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might have a suggestion.

RE: Multiple discs per movie - myron - 2016-02-01

Yes, although it should work, Kodi seems to have still an issue with it.
(see http://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/16012 )

Since i cannot test this how Kodi handles this, it is still not working inside TMM...

Thanks very much, I appreciate the response. Just a suggestion, maybe the Wiki could be altered to let folks know it's still in progress. Smile

Is this still in progress?  I just tried this for the first time, and had issues.  It looks like Kodi has an established naming convention, I can't image it'd be too hard to follow?

If you look at the bug ticket you can see it hasn't been addressed since 2016, So I think it is safe to say it will never work.
