Minimalist popup - Morlock - 2015-06-19

Hi, I switched from WMC/Media Browser to Kodi a few days ago. I wasn't sure what kind of solution I'll wind up needing, so I put this thread here. I may be the last human in North America still on dialup (don't ask), so I can't just go downloading stuff willy-nilly on my own until I stumble onto a solution that works for me. I'm running Kodi 14.2 on W7 64 Ultimate hooked up to two monitors and an HD LCD TV, so sometimes sit at my desk and watch videos using the mouse, and sometimes I watch the TV and use my e-home remote.

I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get a minimalist popup control set while using the mouse. Currently, if I click on the screen while video is playing, I get this huge, invasive popup control scheme that eats about 1/3 of the window. I'd rather have something way, way smaller, with fewer controls. All I really need is a time slider and a play/pause button, and I'd prefer to remove the rest of the popup controls. And something like a "back" or "home" button to take me out of the video and back to the menu would be nice, too.

Any advice? It sounds like I'm looking for a new skin, though I'd prefer a solution involving less extensive changes, since otherwise I'm okay with the standard skin, and like I said, I'm on dialup - and in my experience, skins are relatively large downloads.

If I have to switch skins, I'd like something nice and clean, and perhaps just as importantly, something that I can download and install manually, if that's at all possible. I prefer larger downloads go through dedicated download managers, rather than through an app not designed with a full feature set (e.g., one with a resume feature for dropped connections).

Thanks for reading.

ETA: I also wouldn't mind a way to configure a hotkey/remote button to cycle which monitor Kodi is displayed on.
