Incorrect folder count in video "Files" list preventing accurate library updates - andrewjpaull - 2015-06-22

I have been using XBMC/Kodi for many years and consider myself to be an advanced user, although I am new to the forums. I have come across an issue in 15 beta 1 and 2 that has never happened to me before in any version to date. It seems like a simple issue yet it is perplexing to me.

I have 1,683 folders in my Windows Movies directory (\\NetworkIPAddress\Movies), each containing a movie file, a backdrop, a poster art and an XML file generated by Media Center Master. All the videos are correctly titled and all the XML data is accurate. All movies were scraped by MCM using the IMDB and were successfully parsed. My MCM library shows 1,683 correctly titled and summarized films. OK.

When adding my movie directory to Kodi as a video source to start, Kodi displays only 1,566 sub directories before I even begin scanning for content to add to the library, although there are actually 1,683 folders with media.

I have seen simple issues in movie naming conventions that will prevent a film from parsing to the Kodi library, resulting in missing library items, but never have I seen directories missing from the "Files" menu, regardless of their contents.

To try and resolve the issue I have destroyed my library, changed library locations, renamed folders and media and have pretty much started from scratch but when all is said and done, I get the same results.

To add to this oddness, I decided to test out something simple. I installed the Missing Movie Add-on to search for the files that weren't showing up in my files list or library. During the search, the add-on did locate exactly 1,683 folders with 1,681 matching media titles, but still stated that I was missing only 15 movies from my library.

So in conclusion I have the following results:

1,683 actual folders with media.
1,566 detected folders in Kodi to search through.
1,551 currently parsed videos in my library.
15 movies missing from library (according to Kodi)

Obviously the add-on is calculating the missing movie results from what directories Kodi was able to detect and what is already parsed (1,566 folders-1,551 parsed films=15 movies to manually add). Why aren't the other 100+ folders being detected by Kodi?

What the heck is going on?! Any help would be greatly appreciated. let me know what you need.

Sounds really weird indeed. Maybe a permission issue?

That was the first thing I looked into. Permissions are granted properly on all sub-directories within my "Movies" directory.

Meh. Mind checking if the actual filemanager displays another folder count compared to the files node video window?

Sure thing

File Manager displays 1,683 folders vs. 1,566 in video files node. Very strange.

At least that window is right Wink Do you have "Combine spit video items" activated in settings -> video -> file lists?

RE: Incorrect folder count in video "Files" list preventing accurate library updates - andrewjpaull - 2015-06-22

I do, but all of my films with split video files are stacked so the total number of movie directories shouldn't change

Ex:
\\NetworkIPAddress\Movies\RED (2008)\Red (2008)part1.mp4
Red (2008)part2.mp4
Red (2008)part3.mp4

Disabling "Combine Split video Items" doesn't change the movie folder count.

Try,
Uncheck Group Movies in Sets and make sure skin is set to show all movies and not just watched/unwatched.

RE: Incorrect folder count in video "Files" list preventing accurate library updates - andrewjpaull - 2015-06-23

'Group Movies in Sets' is already unchecked. I don't care to use it. Skin is confluence default and all movies are set to display in library regardless of play counter. Just the same, those settings will affect only the library node, not the video>file node.

RE: Incorrect folder count in video "Files" list preventing accurate library updates - mkortstiege - 2015-06-23

Not sure if this really does not affect the files node since there's also a setting to replace names with library titles. I guess we have to find out what movies are missing to proceed. Please disable all options in the file lists settings node of the video settings and check in detail.

RE: Incorrect folder count in video "Files" list preventing accurate library updates - andrewjpaull - 2015-06-23

All file list settings are disabled. I cant seem to detect any change. File manager still shows the correct number of films, Videos>Files node does not.

RE: Incorrect folder count in video "Files" list preventing accurate library updates - mkortstiege - 2015-06-23

You're sure it's not hiding watched items? Smile Unfortunately it's a pure guessing game for us ..

RE: Incorrect folder count in video "Files" list preventing accurate library updates - andrewjpaull - 2015-06-23

I understand. No I'm not hiding watched items. I've seen just about everything in my library including the TV shows, which don't seem to be having an issue. For full disclosure I will point out that I am running Kodi on a host machine and a MySQL Server on my Drobo5N, sharing out my library to client machines on my network. Is there a possibility that mysql could be causing issues with the node?

RE: Incorrect folder count in video "Files" list preventing accurate library updates - mkortstiege - 2015-06-23

I don't think it's related to MySQL. In case it's possible and you want me to have a look at it, ping me on IRC (freenode, #kodi). I am really curious about what's going on there.
