RE: Internet Archive ROM Launcher - lefty420 - 2016-05-23

Hey Zack just tested out the beta from git OMG you sir are a genius! The new mame xml feature is amazing. I had no idea mame was capable of such things. Loving the c64 !!!!

The only issues I'm having is with spectrum and dos. Dos just sits at z: there's no command to launch the title. and Spectrum just sits on the fuse menu screen.

Absolute gem of an update mate Cant thank you enough.
Lefty

RE: Internet Archive ROM Launcher - houdin24 - 2016-05-23

I noticed no audio on libreelec using tssemek addon has anyone had this issue when using libreelec 7.0.1 the audio works fine on windows

RE: Internet Archive ROM Launcher - zachmorris - 2016-05-23

It took awhile (work got in the way of hobby), but version 1.5.2 of IARL is available:
- Added MAME softlist functionality, and an extra addon setting to support. MAME softlist games add the following systems to IARL:
- ColecoVision
- Commodore 64
- NeoGeoCD (works now with MAME soft lists)
- x68000

Other systems added
- Magnavox O2
- Sega SG1000
- ZX Spectrum

- Rescraped Best of MAME. Every game works now. I played some pretty awesome side-scrollers I'd never played before while testing Smile Full MAME will be rescraped in the future
- Updated MSX art to match other systems
- Added UAE4ARM template, although this is untested
- Fixed external launch command bug for linux
- Added OpenElec Rpi (Mezo / Lolo78 Addon) back into external launch database, although I suggest using Gamestarter since it's more betterer
- Updated wizard for new systems
- Added external emulator option for Dolphin
- Update to sync with RPi Gamestarter Addon

Updated the WIKI regarding how to use softlists, and some suggestions on using IARL as an 'offline' front-end launcher

I think thats probably an issue with the audio setting (although i'm not sure if libreelec is the same as openelec). See here.

Try the new version of IARL, and ensure you've followed setup instructions in the wiki.

Here's my best guess on why those dont work:
Amiga/Amiga CD32/Best of Amiga. If you're using windows, I suggest installing FS-UAE which is an external amiga emulator. In addition to installing FS-UAE, you'll also need 'kickstart' files which are the BIOS files amiga requires. If you've got that all squared away, then you can point IARL to the FS-UAE executable in addon settings. The Retroarch core for Amiga (PUAE), isn't stable at this point as far as I understand and may not work.

Magavox Odyssey, MSX, Sega CD, Dreamcast, Playstation: All require BIOS files to be placed into the system folder for Retroarch. A list of the required files for each core are on the retroarch site here, or a good reference is the lakka site here.

My suggestion for troubleshooting each system:
1) From IARL, download the game of interest
2) Start Retroarch, then try and launch the game file you just downloaded. If it doesn't work directly from Retroarch, then IARL won't work either.

Hope that helps.

RE: Internet Archive ROM Launcher - petanque - 2016-05-27

Hi Zach, i just found this http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=183527
If you go down to Emulator Arguments there is a lot of external launch commands that should work on Android with different emulators.
I hope it can help your project grow on Android, i will test some of them and report back when i got more time.
Keep up the good work, i really appreciate your work.

RE: Internet Archive ROM Launcher - jhoff81 - 2016-05-27

I love this addon, mostly for its ease of use... two things have been an annoyance though. One, I wish I would see the "best of" games when I'm also scrolling through the big list for that system (though this might be a problem with the original data itself).

Two, there's some games missing from the site (one I was just looking for was Secret of Evermore, for example). Even if it meant not having any icons/ local data, I'd love to be able to add roms to a local folder so I could supplement the online database with a couple extra games that it doesn't include. I don't think that's possible with the already existing offline functionality though.

You can set a custom download directory in iral for each console. You can then use rom collector or advance launcher to load those games "offline" there's more details on this on the wiki. You can effectively use iarl to dl games and play them offline using retroarch. You can also add other roms that are not available in iarl and play them offline and launch them either from retroarch itself or 3rd party launcher such as rom collection browser or advance launcher.
My best advice is get used to how retroarch works cores, directories ect. And look at either rom collection browser or advance launcher.

RE: Internet Archive ROM Launcher - jhoff81 - 2016-05-28

No, I've been using Retroarch for a while, just without integration into Kodi other than a shortcut, and I much prefer it being fully integrated. I've played with Advanced Launcher and ROM Collection Browser before, but I have to deal with metadata/scraping and a million other things to handle/correct manually to get good data, and what I like about this addon is that it's pretty much plug and play for all of the games in the archive. Unfortunately there's just a small handful of games that it would be nice to manually add to supplement the online listings.

You could combine the xml files however you wish, or create your own. If you open up the both files and just copy each game xml into the file you want, they'll show up in the list.

You could add a local file to the xml as well. If you just copy the format of one of the other games, name the file the same name as the file on the local hard drive, and in settings change 'Local File Action' to 'do not redownload', the addon will launch the game with the local file.
