This: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/vaapi/intel-driver/commit/?id=bb232561bba4320ffc41b67db9f7ca3ecab32de7 might be related. To verify, you need to install libva-dev and build the master branch of the intel vaapi driver against it.

I will ask Milhouse to add that commit into an upcoming LibreElec build.

Fritsch, have yu had any luck installing plymouth with your setup procedure in the first post? Everytime I enable a splash (including ones from the ubuntu repos) I get a error alog the lines of 'a file named ".so" cannot be found, skipping theme'. Thought Id check here before filing a bug report, because you usually include a section for plymouth in your guides. Cheers

Same issue here. I did not investigate it further. I just boot with without splash as it needs max 3 seconds anyways.

Hi @fritsch
this is slighty offtopic, I have used your very good howto for my j1900 setup. Works like a charm. Thanks very much.

Only one thing is bugging me. Sometimes the keyboard switches back to english (I am using de deadkeys). I have done this: dpkg-reconfigure console-setup
and even created a X11/xorg.conf with a inputsection.

Sometimes in KODI17 and/or terminal I still get the english layout (but not allways.
I am not expericend with openbox, is there a different way to permanently choose the language?

With openbox, just add to autostart:

setxkbmap de

before starting kodi

For the shell, try: sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

Hi , I have the following problem and hope somebody can help me whit it.

I have managed to install Ubuntu 16.04 server on my Beelink BT3 (Intel Atom x5-Z8300) , in first it won’t boot from USB but I found out that this machine has a 32 uefi, so I copied bootia32.efi EFI/BOOT/ folder on the boot medium.

No its letting me install ubunut , when the install finished and the machine is rebooted it hangs at initial ramdisk. When I power down the machine and unplug the hdmi cabel and the power on the machine , wait for 10 second and plugin the hdmi cable is see after a while the KODI startup screen.

@djnice:
Here is an updated driver for the color issue: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/i965-va-driver_1.7.0-33_amd64.deb

Code:
wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/i965-va-driver_1.7.0-33_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i i965-va-driver_1.7.0-33_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get -f install

Hi is it possible to install the intel vaapi version of kodi on debian ( with debian i don't have the problem)

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - fritsch - 2016-05-20

No. You need to rebuild from source, including userspace (mesa / vaapi / and so on). A kodi v17 nightly is enough.

thanks for the info , I know how to build Kodi from source , but not userspace (mesa / vaapi / and so on. Will wait till the hardware vendor provides a good firmware , if not will look further for other hardware.

Let this be a warning for people , the Beelink bt3 is not Ubuntu compatible!!

Depending on what kernel debian ships, it's a kernel issue, which can be solved easily.

Which debian did you install? Can you provide the logfiles from post 1? (those will cover most installed components).

beelink has realest a new firmware/bios ( http://www.bee-link.com/Beelink-91-1-1.html ) will test its again with Ubuntu 16.04x64

I am currently using an Acer Revo M1601 Celeron N3050, running LibreELEC very well. I just wondered if Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server build offers any performance improvements over LibreELEC with this hardware. Thanks in advance for any advice
