RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated May 2018) - JohnWB - 2018-05-29 1080p does give the best picture but the edges of the screen are chopped off, is there a way to make the picture fit the screen RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated May 2018) - djnice - 2018-06-04 The auto resolution switching (even SD) will work in the next CoreELEC release: [link] RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated May 2018) - Punkid - 2018-06-04 Apple just announced that the Apple TV 4K is getting Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. Not sure about DTS X though. RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated May 2018) - hdmkv - 2018-06-05 ...and whether one or other object-based audio will be possible to leverage via Kodi. If so, Apple just blew nVidia Shield out of the water. RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated May 2018) - JohnWB - 2018-06-06 I now have the Apple TV 4K and was wondering if I should set the output to 4.2.0 or 4.2.2 RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated May 2018) - ashlar - 2018-06-06 (2018-06-05, 01:00)hdmkv Wrote: ...and whether one or other object-based audio will be possible to leverage via Kodi. I will stream 4K HDR Dolby Atmos and DTS-X content locally (NAS connected to Gigabit Lan). It will be connected to a denon 6400 which will do all the heavy lifting on the sound side of things. The projector is a Optoma UHD65 Right now I have a Nvidia Shield. Which media player I should buy to get the most of this system? It is close to being called perfect. The one thing that it isn't doing is passing the MaxFALL/MaxCLL in the HDR10 metadata. It is actually the AppleTV 4K that has problem. Apple TV 4K replaces the source HDR10 metadata with its own generic one. PQ itself looks fantastic w/o any banding or other issues.No. Deep Color (>8-bit) is indicated by the Color Depth (CD field) values in the General Control Packet (GCP) of HDMI signal. CD field values can be set for 8/10/12/16-bit. When they are set to "0", it means 8-bit. YCbCr 4:2:2 by specification doesn't support Deep Color. It has a default 12-bit pixel encoding format. If the actual color depth is less than 12-bit, 0 padding is used to make it 12-bit. TV/Projector/AVR/many HDMI analyzers simply check the CD field values to report on the color depth. Since CD field is set to 0 for 4:2:2 encoding they report the color depth as 8-bit ignoring the fact that it is 4:2:2 encoding. On Denon & Marantz AVRs, when the CD field values are detected as 0 and the pixel encoding is 4:2:2, the pixel depth is displayed as "---". The problem with Zidoo X9S 4:2:2 output that I reported in the other thread is unrelated to this. I am almost certain that the X9S output is only 8-bit for YCbCr 4:2:2.
