Hi Wrxtasy,

What is the detail on Shield TV and Android 5.1/7.1 passthru? Why is it striked thru on OP?

RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated Jan 2017) - wrxtasy - 2017-01-22

From reports of at least 2 trusted Kodi members - it appears that Shield IEC Audio passthrough (used in Kodi Krypton RC3) is not working. SPMC (Jarvis) RAW passthrough looks like it still works.
Details from HERE onwards

The HiMedia Q10 Pro also has broken IEC passthrough with its Nougat Firmware. External player passthrough still works apparently.

And this....

Refreshrate switching will break it. If it works it works by luck. Nvidia does not support it - they know their drivers are misbehaving, but it's not ontop of the list to fix it. And even if they fixed it - kodi needs to do additional work to do it properly.

I have posed more questions for @fritsch. Will see what he will say.

As for my original question whether the log is showing RAW passthrough or IEC passthrough, I compared the log to the ones from LibreELEC (Intel) and they are the same. So, I guess that's how IEC passthrough will show up in Kodi log. SPMC log is not this confusing Smile

I have edited my earlier posts about IEC61937 HD audio passthrough. I don't want to create more confusion Wink

RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated Jan 2017) - viz55 - 2017-01-30

Hello,
i currently own a HIMEDIA 900a (very slow with no support at all) and i am looking for a TV box with KODI that needs to be very fast at the boot. i also like to run android, have gigalan and audio passthrough.
i read a lot in this forum and other reviews and i am confused. Please help me with your suggestions starting with the lower cost first.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, you must have missed this bit...

Q. Fastest, most versatile Android TV - Kodi streaming box ?
  • nVIDIA Shield

RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated Jan 2017) - viz55 - 2017-01-30

thank you wrxtasy for your quick reply, but i need sth cheaper. in the category of less than 100$ is that i have no comparison bootable time data.

RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated Jan 2017) - KoopaTroopa - 2017-01-30

Xiaomi Mi Box - US$69 + approx $9 for ethernet

RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated Jan 2017) - viz55 - 2017-01-30

thanks for your suggestion. didn't think about the usb to ethernet adapter until you wrote it. it was one of my choices rejected due to gigalan missing.
Any comments for probox2 air and Beelink MINI MXIII (i already read here that beelink GT1 is the buggiest) on their boot speed and general?

RE: START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated Jan 2017) - MB1968 - 2017-01-30

I'm using the Beelink GT1 since a month. I don't agree with the negative comment about the Beelink. The Beelink GT1 works fine. Android starts up in 25 seconds). However you might experience green flickering issues on tv. I'm not sure if this issue has been solved in the latest firmware.
