Seems a LOT more S905x than 'older' S905 around.

Try amazon.co.uk and search for "S905 Lollipop"

What is wrong with a s905x?

absolutely nothing tbh, i just wanted the 1g lan and from what i've read the s905 is actually better made, and i'll prob never use 'hdr' or vp9 for that matter. also the s905 has slight better dac?192 kHz.
having said all that, I may just get a 905x as this is doing my head in trying to find a Beelink MiniMXIII s905 lol

Blasphemy ! - why would purchasers spend extra money on a C2 for:

- Gigabit Ethernet
- Superior HDMI-CEC control vs all other LE AML platforms - due to open sourced U-boot code.
- Reference Hardware status - LE development platform.
- Automatic LibreELEC updating if using official LE builds.
- Self programmable IR receiver - use any remote you want.
- Safely - Overclockable
- Properly, engineered & manufactured with reliable quality componentry

Decent setup is: C2 Board, Case, SD card, USB Power cord, HDMI cable. Use any old USB device charger lying around to supply power and Ethernet connect for superior video streaming.

That sounds absolutely perfect! - I've found an ordroid c2 for 53.65 is that the going rate? - any recommendations for a nice case for it? automatic updating via LE builds sounds awesome. Im glad I asked as I really thought a s905 china box was the way to go, but this c2 looks the business.

Surely an HDMI audio extractor is the best bet these days. Optical and Coax SPDIF legacy audio is going the way of all things...

They're great - but better than built-in? It adds another tenner, which is 40% of the price of my first mini mxiii.
I'm tempted by a C2, it looks great as well - but comparing it to stuff that costs half the price so it should.
Edit: after a bit of browsing I should probably correct that to more like about a quarter of the price by the time I've added the bits I want / use!

Can you run Android 6 on it?

I don't know what your setup is, but i'm thinking hook up hdmi out from C2 to receiver, optical to tv.
or maybe treat the tv as a hdmi input splitter and tv > optical > receiver/soundbar/amp whatever.
Would that not work for you?
