RE: HOW TO - Set up madVR for Kodi DSPlayer & External Players - gotham_x - 2016-03-06

I am following with interest review Panasonic DX900: Full LED TV UHD, HDR Premium 4K
www.hdfever.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9811&start=250http://
The reviewer writes, in HDR can display a maximum luminous peak of 1430 cd / mq
lift spontaneously question ; This is the peak luminance from os hold into account with HDR Peak luminance (madVR)
or , keep in consideration the value the peak luminous cd / mq after proper calibration ....is theme very confused from
understand...

The peak luminance after calibration is what your display is capable of. Otherwise, you would have to turn the backlight and contrast to its maximum.

In this case , It is not to take into in consideration the peak luminance at 1430 cd / mq native for madVR , but the peak luminance cd / mq after correct calibration , for adapt this a Gamut Target cd / mq after correct calibration to a correct peak luminance madVR , is correct ?

Yes, but you can have peaks over the calibration luminance. If your TV is calibrated to 125 nits, choosing 200 - 250 nits is acceptable. madshi says there is no guideline for this value. It up to experimentation by the user.

Thanks for your answer above, I wanted to ask , for correct RGB output levels , con una impostazione (madVR) PC levels (0-255) -> (GPU) Full Range RGB 0-255 -> (TV) Output as RGB 16-235 ,
the color space in what differs from color space (madVR) PC levels (0-255) -> (GPU) Limited Range RGB 16-235 -> (TV) Output as RGB 16-235 which is that used .

The colors will be exactly the same (16-235), but, if the TV doesn't convert the GPU's 0-255 output, the image will be washed out. In the second case, the GPU converts the output to 16-235 to match the TV.

Any color conversion can lead to the introduction of errors, which can lead to color banding. So you want to limit these conversions, if possible. I would recommend 0-255 for all components: madVR -> GPU -> Display. I think this will provide the most accurate result for most users.

The question arises , if image not is washed with (GPU) Full Range RGB 0-255 -> (TV) Output as RGB 16-235 , which of the two is more suited for the conversion. Conversion TV or GPU ?
(GPU) Full Range RGB 0-255 -> (TV) Output as RGB 16-235
(GPU) Limited Range RGB 16-235 -> (TV) Output as RGB 16-235

I don't know. I would use the black and white clipping test patterns in the guide (the AVS Forum MP4 video patterns) to make this judgement. See which one preserves the most accurate grayscale for 16-235 content.

RE: HOW TO - Set up madVR for Kodi DSPlayer & External Players - gotham_x - 2016-03-18

Thanks anyway, my current TV, ( Dynamic Range RGB ) door 3 settings ; Auto , Limited and Full , by made test (madVR) PC levels (0-255) -> (GPU) Full Range RGB 0-255 -> (TV) Output as RGB 0-255) on TV I set ( Dynamic Range RGB ) Full , image that is returned is Grey (gray black) if is as I think , setting Full is for force there source , in this case there GPU. I could be be wrong.

TV currently is set on AUTO.

The clipping test pattern videos will tell you if the levels are correct.

The clipping test pattern videos , Brightness and Contrast as must be evaluated.

Yes, that's how to determine if your levels are correct.

RE: HOW TO - Set up madVR for Kodi DSPlayer & External Players - gotham_x - 2016-03-21

Hi Warner306 , I have settled , in practically from test more depth on this it is established a output GPU , RGB Full to TV set RGB 0-255 of result (madVR) PC levels (0-255) -> (GPU) Full Range RGB 0-255 -> (TV) Output as RGB 0-255) without
see image washed and / or black gray .

Only a question , because is preferable output GPU/ RGB instead of YCbCr 4:4:4 ?

RE: HOW TO - Set up madVR for Kodi DSPlayer & External Players - huhn - 2016-03-21

you should output RGB if possible.

if is possible, understand the reason
