Just today I came across an entire "brand" on Amazon called "XBMCMart". Pretty much everything about it is... yeah... I won't link because it's easy to search for. Has Amazon actually removed any listings yet? I thought I heard there were some positive results from finally getting in touch with the right people over there.

Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.

wow what a kick in the teeth that is lol one of the internets biggest retailers are selling banned kodi addon boxes.

Next step contact Amazon and ask them to stop selling? If they refuse, then what?

RE: Call to Arms: Combatting Trademark Infringement - Big Aero - 2016-09-18

Actually I take that back, it doesn't actually mention any banned addons whatsoever?

Heres a scenario for you guys. If a seller sells a box and advertises Kodi , Showbox, and other free movies apps. Then says free tv , movies etc. Is there a "trademark" problem? I mean how would you even know the free tv and movies are related to the Kodi app? The seller could simply install a vanilla version of Kodi, then install other pirate android apps. And then potentially get pruned, because XBMC is on a power trip?

There's a trademark problem independent of the piracy issue. However, advertising pirate services does make the trademark issue worse by giving Kodi a negative association.

Just found another one of these called "Dragon Box".

Claims to have sold 60k+ units and price is $350 with a Kodi developer on their side!!!! Looks like they are growing, found them on a mall cart yesterday.

It's the time of the year where I see a ton of local Facebook sites selling these sticks and I've gone and made sure to tell everyone that these boxes are illegal. Here is one specific Facebook guy advertising himself as Android Kodi guy. I believe this constitutes as a infringement

Selling Firesticks loaded with KODI offering free movies and TV shows. I specifically asked if a login was needed for something like HBOGO to watch content and she said no!

The whole deal with Kodi, piracy etc. I really couldn't care less what people use Kodi for in their own time... however, the boxes sold with Kodi branding... Now there's an example with Debian and Mozilla - Debian rebranded Firefox to Iceweasel.

Wikipedia Wrote:In 2006, a branding issue developed when Mike Connor, representing the Mozilla Corporation, requested that the Debian Project comply with Mozilla standards for use of the Thunderbird trademark when redistributing the Thunderbird software.[1][2] At issue were modifications not approved by the Mozilla Foundation, when the name for the software remained the same.

So couldn't Kodi either require 3rd parties to package Kodi unaltered OR rebrand it if they have made changes? Legally speaking.

Why are you so upset. Not sure of the percentage but most addons infringe at some level. Kodi by its mear existence provides the environment for copyright infringement.
