@minnie1967

The forum moderators have determined that Banned_addons (wiki) are present on your system. To receive assistance here, these banned items must be removed. If a clean log is not submitted within 3 days, then the relevant post(s) will be removed after this time.

I wiped the build I had, just to point out discovery and classic cinema were broke. I went and reread how to post the correct file YOU wanted. Try this, the only repo showing on this build, is the offical kodi repo. I don't have an "all" option for repos. Do you think you're talking to a noob? I deleted all my crap to add just 3.2.9 and classic cinema. Do you want me to wipe my registry? Go and look for hidden or obvious folders or files left after the wipe? Funny you sit on your soap box, looking at metalchris repo, where this addon is stored, it's listed as "unoffical addon repo". Are you going to ban him? The developer? I even went as far and dissected the dependency's need to run it, and reinstalled them, ran multiple scenarios to figure out why it's not working. When the plexus "fix" came out, and it didn't work because you uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and never did a complete wipe, until you went into profile directory and DELETED the plexus folder, hum, wonder who found that. From here, I don't give a rats ass. I tired helping you and you want is to play holier than thou. I didn't want to get into learning the side of learning programming, I guess I need to. At least I'm not a hypocrite. By the way, tell Chris discovery addon isn't working which I'm sure he already is aware... I don't know why, or the reasons, I'll go back at it again when I have time, if I figure out what was wrong, I'll post it where someone will appreciate it.

Code:
20:46:21.727 T:18446744072427718960  NOTICE: ADDONS: Using repository repository.xbmchub
20:46:21.727 T:18446744072427718960  NOTICE: ADDONS: Using repository repository.shani
20:46:21.727 T:18446744072427718960  NOTICE: ADDONS: Using repository repository.filmkodi.com
20:46:21.727 T:18446744072427718960  NOTICE: ADDONS: Using repository repository.StreamArmy

The first two are certainly banned repos, and the latter two are on the banned addon (wiki) list (and now the repo list too for completeness).

We have no problem with MetalChris or his repo, as there's nothing in it that violates our piracy policy (wiki). Where we have an issue is with devices like yours which contain repos like those above which do contain stuff which violates the policy. We offer no support for any such device here.

So if you wiped everything and still have the above noted items in place, then your wipe wasn't as complete as you think it was perhaps? Or you're installing something that is not from us?

@minnie1967

Did you switch to parser Html5lib in the advanced add-on settings?

 You rock! That was it. Thank you big time. I should have been able to figure it out but never got that far.

So, supposing a user unwittingly bought a "fully-loaded Kodi Box" or trusted the scam artists on Youtube and installed banned repos & addons.  When stuff stopped working, they came here looking for help and after reading the pinned threads about piracy they deleted those addons and repos thru the system settings - leaving only the official repo and the addons from the official repo.

Is that enough to wipe out ALL traces of banned addons & repos?  Or will it leave a few orphan files in the registry, etc?

Do they have to reformat their drive, switch to a brand-new SD, or something like that?

Boxes are different than computers. I get yelled at using a read off the computer to submit because it can/will leave residual crap. If it's a box go into the settings, go to apps, find kodi, erase data. Boxes don't leave footprints like computers do. If you have es fileexplorer go to home, second home down, data, and erase the org.xbmc.kodi folder, it does the same as deleting app data. I just did a build I'd also get screamed at for a friend whos kid just turned 3, it's all educational and cartoons. I want their kid growing up with scobby-doo, woody wood pecker, retro tv Andy Griith show, Mr Rogers neighborhood, electric company... The official kodi forum as greats like pbs kids, but you find dora the explorer, sponge square pants..Others they don''t have programs they wrote, I think those are retarded but kids love them. I want their kids seeing willey e coyote getting his (/) kicked by the road runner. Popeye the sailor nailing olive oil. But it violates forum policy's. I'd like to see a little more "leniency" between the "official" and "third party" working together. Both have a common enemy. Just delete the data, and use the kodi repo to rebuild from.

Is Discovery Channels still working for anyone?

I'd imagine not. Looks like more website changes - again. Give me a couple of days to look into it. I'll get an update out as soon as I can.

RE: Discovery Channels - Updated version 3.2.9 available - MetalChris - 2019-01-01

Happy New Year!

Updated version 3.3.0 is now available. This version addresses the issues caused by recent web site changes. Overall functionality has been restored, but a couple of minor bugs remain:

  • A few episodes listed by the add-on do not play in Kodi. I've tested these in a browser, and they do play. I've added some error handling for this, but am actively seeking a better solution. This same behavior was exhibited in the previous version of the add-on, and the number of episodes affected is minimal.
  • Some thumbnail images do not load. Same as above. Not sure what is causing this, but I'm looking for a solution.

On the other hand, there are some nice improvements from the previous version:

  • All scraping is done from the API with JSON. No more need for BeautifulSoup, and no more need to choose which parser works best for you.
  • Now more channels than before! The add-on now includes DIY, HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, and Cooking Channel.
  • Episodes are once again available @ 1080p resolution.

No longer included:

  • DiscoveryKids - No longer available from Discovery. A new offering replacing this channel called Discovery Mindblown, is not yet available. If there's enough interest when it becomes available, I may look into including this, or creating a separate add-on.
  • TLC - A long time ago, TLC was The Learning Channel. Now it is Totally Loathsome Crap. The TLC website for some time has not conformed to the standard design of the other Discovery channels. Between that, and the lack of desirable programming (IMNSHO), I'm tired of having to write special code just to make it work. If there's enough interest, I may consider spinning it off as a separate add-on. Otherwise it's dead and buried.

The add-on should automatically update if you have my repository installed. If you can't wait for that, you can download the latest version from the link below:

Discovery Channels - v. 3.3.0

As usual, if you experience any issues with the add-on, please post a link to a full, unedited debug log (wiki).
