RE: Spotify for Kodi - User 224999 - 2016-07-07

Sorry guys, been busy lately. I'll reply to you within a few days.

FYI: The addon has issues with Kodi Krypton due to the recent changes to the internal player in Kodi.
I have already reported this to the devs.

But when go to play, the song doesn't start.

As far as I'm aware of it is not possible to add songs from this addon to the Kodi music library.
If you somehow managed to add it anyway it will not work because of security.
You can only use the addon itself to browse and play your music collection.

Maybe, somewhere in the future I might add an option to create strm files to add to your Kodi library.

Do you have any special characters in your Spotify username, like umlauts or something ?
It seems that the libspotify sdk is crashing on that

Is playback from the music library even possible and supported by the addon? Would you need a log?

Adding songs from the addon to your Kodi musi clibrary is not possible. Adding to the Spotify music library however is possible. Also you should be able to play the songs/albums in your Spotify Library (My Music).

If in your set-up the playback from the Spotify library fails, please provide me your Kodi logfile.

Been using this with latest nightlies and it seems to be incredibly slow on krypton libreelec milhouse builds.

Do you notice the same behaviour with krypton? Loading a song takes a long time, then if you skip a song or let the song finish it'll take many seconds to load the next song. Browsing is a lot slower also.

On Jarvis it seems to work a lot snappier.

Yeah, it's an issue with Krypton.
I already reported it but it doesn't get much attention...

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=278536

EDIT: in fact now it did get attention and I've updated the addon with a possible fix.

RE: Spotify for Kodi - loggio - 2016-07-13

latest update doesn't seem to be working anymore with krypton.
i've tried on my rpi, then moved to windows and did a fresh install of kodi nightly along with the addon directly from git and it doesn't work on either platform.

EDIT**
ok that's weird... now it's working on windows but not the Rpi

yeah i saw that, Marcelveldt updated the addon... but now it doesn't work on Milhouse krypton Nightlies.

It's working on Alpha Windows build.

RE: Spotify for Kodi - loggio - 2016-07-13

Here's my debug log:
http://sprunge.us/jITP

i see : ERROR: CAudioDecoder: Unable to Init Codec while loading file 'http://1'27.0.0.1:8090/track/612VcBshQcy4mpB2utGc3H.wav?idx=1|X-Spotify-Token=c14032a8c79a75204d84cf246953f96a5bd6d9a1&User-Agent=Spotify%2F1.0.19+%28XBMC%2F17.0-ALPHA3+Git%3A5568fd3%29

Might post this over in the pi forum too.

EDIT- Narrowed it down, build #0619 is where the problem starts. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=269814&pid=2361114#pid2361114

I have to say I'm bit confused now. It is definitely possible to add an album to kodi's music library. Try for yourself. Open any album in the addon, open context menu on any song from that album. There is an option "add to library" or so. For me it's the third option from the top. When I choose that, that album gets added to my music library with the correct artist, album etc. It shows up under recently added albums too. In this case I added the album "California" by "Blink 182".

Here is a log when i do that:

http://pastebin.com/wqcRyQxM

I think it starts at line 1,967. The universal music scraper even scrapes the album.

However playback of that album from kodi's library fails. After a while I get a message "One or more files could not be played." Here is a log when i try to do that:

http://pastebin.com/8VqMAEZP

Edit: I just checked the Google Play Music and Amazon Prime Music addons that I have installed as well. They do not offer that "add to library" option. Only your spotify addon offers that option.

Edit 2: If this an unsupported, maybe even unknown feature to you, maybe we should forward the question to Daveblake, who is the music dev wizard of kodi these days.

I've only tested with my dev machine, which is running Windows.
Does it help if you use the "Play with" option in the contextmenu and play it with the Videoplayer ?

It is unsupported and that option shouldn't be listed at all. The most recent version of the addon is now adjusted so it won't display that button.
To get this feature addon, to add content from your music addons to the kodi music library you will have to file a feature request to the Kodi devs.

The Kodi music database currently doesn't support any plugin paths being added, it will only accept real files on disk.
One way around it is if the addon creates fake files containing a link to the stream, also known as strm files. This method is commonly known with video addons.

I can offcourse extend the addon to generate the strm files but imo the better approach would be if it's possible to scrape content from an addon directly to the Kodi db.

Yes it works if I play with Videoplayer but it's incredibly slow

Thanks for the reply...No special characters. I changed my username with Spotify to avoid all that. Before trying to log on with the new user name, I deleted the add-on and relevant files (there was an earlier post setting out the necessary files to be deleted that I followed).

Your assistance is greatly appreciated :-)
