I have got my Q10Pro yesterday. First impression is very good. Nod PQ is excellent via media center but not so good with Kodi (I know I need the Wrapper).
I need more time to know the media player but I'm sure that we will good friends. Big Grin

himedia media center and Kodi ( mediacodec surface enabled ) have same PQ, both use OMX hisilicon layer decoding and post processing....
himedia media center ONLY suppoer autoswtich 24p and audio HD, kodi not... we waiting support.

Maybe some setup is still not correct but I see definitive PQ difference between Kodi and Media Center.

I have Atmos receiver and want to buy one which can pass through/play Atmos so i can enjoy the same when connected to my HT through Atmos receiver.

Whats the main difference between the two. My usage is pure 1080, non 3d ,media playback.
I just got a Q5 Pro for review and will compare with my Q10 Pro. Performance should be identical. Yes, ATMOS and DTS:X are fully supported.

Main differences between the two are 3.5" internal HDD capability (Q10 Pro) vs. not, 16GB eMMC flash storage (Q10 Pro) vs. 8GB, fan (Q10 Pro) vs. none, size (Q10 Pro is significantly larger), and color (Q10 Pro is black, Q5 Pro is silver).

It this is what you want, there are other boxes that are cheaper. I saw your question on Minix forum also. Even though Minix will not claim it, Minix U1 can do Dolby Atmos passthrough.

Hi all,
Anyone know why i can't in Q5 Pro play DVD Folder (it says "Video Problem")?

Thx

Hi,

i got my Q10 Pro today and it doesn't recognize my HDD.
Samsung HD155UI, NTFS, 1,5TB.
Checked the connection multiple times, you can listen to it booting up when the box starts but it just isn't visible via file manager.

I currently cannot format it, since i don't have enough space on my pc to backup all my files.
Any ideas? Huh

I want a media player, which can play 1080 blueray content, non 3d, Atmos, HD Audio Files, locally, or through network.
I will be connecting the same to my Atmos receiver, Onkyo 636. Minix U1 is lot cheaper than HiMedia Q10/Q5. Have you tried Minix U1?. Still not sure whether it can do Dolby Atmos passthrough.

If Minix U1 can do Atmos/ HD Audio passthrough for sure, then I will skip Himedia and will go for Minix U1.

Have I tried Minix U1? Yes, I have had it from the week it was released. Does it do Dolby TrueHD, Atmos passthrough? Yes, it does, but Minix will not officially claim support for Atmos. I was only making a suggestion based on what you mentioned your requirements were. Both Minix U1 and HiMedia Q10/5 will suit your needs. HiMedia has a couple of features like HDR10, full HD3D playback, VP9 codec, hi-res audio output that the Minix U1 will never have.

Thanks again for the input.. i will see the price difference between the both and will decide accordingly. Internal hard disk option in q10pro is an advantage..... thanks again. Smile

We have adjusted detailed the Kodi, q10 setup, Media center today and we have made a fine tuning of the projector to q10 (an expert guy helped me). The PQ is definitly better, wonderful. But the PQ of Media center is still better than Kodi, no question. We have watched many movies you can see more details, sharper edges, etc. with media center of q10.

Himedia Q10 pro & Plex: HD audio and 24p ! - looun - 2016-06-26

with my big surprise .... enable " Use Android Media Player" into Plex -> video setting playback HD audio and auto switch 24p (23.976hz) work without issues . Big Grin

Plex video setting:
Quote:Use Android Media PLayer
Video playback will use the standard Media PLayer provided by the device. This reduce some playback capabilities but improve playback for a limitd set of devices.

Playback with plex + Android Media PLayer:

work:
+ NOT need wrapper
+ HD audio
+ switch 24p (23.976hz)
+ Hisilicon Expressx Engine work( see split screen test )
+ Plex user interface

Not work:
- can't access to Expressx menu setting
- Full 3d iso
- can't use for local setting, need plex server

It's very nice to have same function on kodi/spmc

RE: HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro (2016) with Kodi: Reviews & Utilization - nadtom - 2016-06-26

I had a problem but solved, I write maybe help for somebody:

Wrapper was installed so Kodi start always the Q10 pro mediacenter. But I had to connect (e.g. with shortcut) the mediacenter to NAS before started the Kodi (once after switched on Q10 pro).

Solution:
Create a Guest user on your NAS and give a "just reading" access to the Directory of NAS which contains the movie files.

I have downloded a XBMC launcher so start the Kodi automatically after switch on Q10 pro so not needed any pre-connection.
