I installed skin on my q10 ,really it looks good but still hangs on, and kodi turn off while listening to music and try to change the settings in the visualization

RE: HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro (2016) with Kodi (4K w/HDR / 3D / HD Audio) - trykkertor - 2016-08-20

Can anyone post the settings for video and display?
Should HDMI Auto Adaption be on.
Should I use RGB 4.4.4, YCBR4.4.4?

And so on.
Have a High-end Samsung 2015 65" JS9500 model, but the picture quality from Q10 Pro is not good.

1. I get black crush. Not showing details in the dark.
(If is put brightness up, the picture gets even "flatter")

2. The picture overall is pretty "flat". Not much pop or great contrast ration.

3. Ghosting in the picture. Sometimes faces "stick" while a person is moving.
It's like seing the picture through a thin clear food film.

I'm very picky about my picture quality, and I bet to 75% of people, they would not notice all of this.
But running it side by side my VERY old Ryan PlayON HD which is so slow and boring, the PlayON gives a so much better picture.
Details in black, morer pop. no ghost-effect.

Both Q10 Pro and PlayON run through the same receivner, with same settings.

Which settings are "best" is hard to say as there's no documentation from HiMedia. I use YCbCr4.4.4 10-bit, with HDMI auto adaptation on, and HDR mode at auto.

Watched 2 3D ISO's all the way yesterday and noticed microstutters about half a dozen times in each. While they seem more subtle than w/previous f/w's as some have reported, there's still noticeable even when trying to enjoy the movie & not really keeping at eye out for them.

The other unaddressed issue than annoys me is the slim rough left edge in most movies. Most may not notice this as TV's usually have at least 2-3% overscan and edges are hidden, but with front projectors, any edge artifacts are noticeable.

In my case :

2160p60
24p playback option ON
HDMI auto adaptation OFF
Video output and ycbr by default

See you

What is best setting to auto switch to 1080p (for those sources) and then to 4k (for those files).

It seems that if you leave it always at 4k, it will upscale the 1080p to 4K, but picture is not as sharp then as native 1080p files were..

Ok YCbCr4.4.4 10-bit is not working for me.
Error: Selected is not supported, set it back..
On supported video color is YCbCr420 8Bit
Any idea?

3)no, addon it's only a frequency switch.
resolution switching is very complicated, not all vido are 1080p some are 900p,1000p ecc..

4) with kodi (dvdplayer) + addon not work :
- HD Audio passtrought , need wait update to android 6/7
- Full 3d ISO(MVC) ,not support kodi
- 2D iso ( frequency switch ) , working progress

All other functions work very well ☺

Thank you very much for your answers Wink I think i understand everything know I just have a couple more questions.

1. So if I want the ability to play HD audio streams, 3D and 2D ISO frequency switch I have to use the Kodi wrapper?

2. Do I still need to instal the frequency plugin if I want the himedia (while using the kodi wrapper) to switch from 60 frames per seconds to 23.976 frames per second? Or is their just a simple option for this in the settings.

3. Since the Himedia can not do resolution changes on the fly is the upscaling of the 1080p to 4k video quality good enough or should I switch the player to out put 1080p when watching 1080p content?

4. Does this player have the same bug as the nvidia shield were if you auto refresh rate switch from 60 frames per second to 23.976 frames per second it switches the color space to RGB from YCbCr. At the bottom of this page it explains it https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/Recommended-video-settings-for-SPMC%2C-NVIDIA-Shield-TV-and-UHD-%284K%29-TVs-with-4K-GUI.

5. What is advantage of running in YCbCr opposed to RGB? My projector only does 8-bit but my 4k HDTV does HDR and 10 bit should I still use YCbCr or would rgb be better for movies and shows? I read some wear a long time ago that rgb was for video games and web browsing and computer work is that still true. but what if I want to play a HDR 4k 10bit video is rgb or YCbCr better for that?

Thanks again.

Make sure your input on your tv is set to the same color space as the himedia q10.

example if you are using full range out put on the tv in the settings make sure himedia is set full range. If the himedia is set limited color out put make sure your tv is set to limited as well. Or if their is a Auto option on you tv you could use that.

Damit is their any 4k media player that uses kodi and does not have any bugs? I would use my pc but nvida cards can not do 23.976 correctly.

Dune 10 seems nice but does not use kodi.

HDMI 2.0a support MAX TMDS throughput 18 Gbit/s = 8-bit YUV 4:4:4.

4k 10-bit YUV 4:4:4 is not support from HDMI 2.0a , only 1080p.

Just create a custom resolution in the control panel with 23,976hz it works on my 970! BUT no HDR or DV with the 970 ^^

And 4:2:0 at 4k 60hz and 10bit is possible. Most videos use 4:2:0 so its fine!

2160p/60Hz doesn't support YCbCr4.4.4 10-bit
2160p/24Hz/30Hz support YCbCr4.4.4 10-bit[works for me]

I was also able to get 2160p/60Hz to display YCbCr4.2.0 10-bit ..

All good here..

I'vre tried that now, same result each time.
Q10 Pro gives me crushed blacks, flatter image, ghosting and color banding.
Plugging my old PlayOn in the same cable, none of the above appears that significant.
