Looking forward to it.

Nice to see someone actually testing the remote control for ease of use, not just within Kodi but the whole of Android OS Apps usability.
This is actually pretty important in any media player implementation, but is sadly often overlooked.

As you know I've been a bit critical lately of Android Lollipop and slow IR only D-Pad Air Mice implementations Wink

Hi,

I currently own a Zappiti 4K box and I am very disappointed with it. It is lagging a lot and the audio doesn´t sync for most of the time. I am now looking to buy a new box and hopefully find a much better one. So for you guys who have used the Himedia Q10 Pro I got some questions:

- Does it have full google play store?
- Can it play Dolby Atmos in it´s native playing software or Kodi over HDMI pass-through?
- Have you experienced any audio sync problem?

I am now looking at three different boxes and would like some help to know which of them that is the best and most reliable.

The first one is the Himedia Q10 Pro the second one is the Himedia A5 and the third is the Beelink GT1.

What concerns me is that the Q10 Pro has a Quad-core CPU and Mali-720 GPU while the two other boxes have an Octa-core Amlogic S912 CPU and ARM Mali-T820MP3 GPU. Is there anything that makes the Q10 more worth buying even if the CPU and GPU is better on the other two boxes? Let me know the pros and cons of them, cause now I can´t seem to get my head around it.

RE: HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro (2016) with Kodi (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio) - looun - 2016-09-15

for video playback the difference between Q10 and Amlogic box is with VPU(video processing unit) , not CPU or GPU: HiVE 2.0 Processing Engine VS Amlogic Video Engine (AVE).

HiVE 2.0 Processing Engine work with himediavideoplayer and kodi/dvd player (OMX/media codec )

Amlogic Video Engine (AVE) work oly with Amlogic player , kodi not support more amcodec, AVE must be implemented by vendor to support, like wetek. ( if i am not in wrong )

which is better ? depend from content for example : AVE is better for interlaced content , HiVE is better for contrast/saturation color , or personal TV ecc..

RE: HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro (2016) with Kodi (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio) - wrxtasy - 2016-09-15

@Lugie,

Pls read this Post:
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=290563&pid=2413546#pid2413546

And then this:
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=255686&pid=2413457#pid2413457

And that will knock one choice off your list straight away.

Lesson: don't get Badazzled and lead down the garden path by flashy Marketing and Tech Specs when:

a) you will often get lied to, particularly with brand new Android devices, sold out of Asia promising the earth.
b) "supported" does not mean everything works out of the box. With cheap AMlogic Android, this is nearly always true.
c) concentrating on bleeding edge tech specs and you will get burnt with an Android Dud.
d) Software and Firmware support is everything, particularly when it comes to Android.

@looun could you also try Full 3D from mkv as well as iso on the X9S please.

RE: HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro (2016) with Kodi (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio) - hdmkv - 2016-09-15

@looun, can you post your impressions/review of X9S here? Thanks.

In addition to items on your list above, how does the wrapper via ZDMC work as mirror88 has mentioned was just implemented. Alternatively, @Lony's wrapper with official Kodi 16.1 (same Zidoo forum link).

And, is 23.976 working, and w/o any microstutters, with 3D ISO's? This fix was also supposedly just added.

Have been too busy to get to; hoping to soon.

@hdmkv: Don't worry, I appreciate your interest in this regard. On the other hand, if the Imprex Engine can be totally disabled as Futeko stated, could the following suggestion be the final solution for this issue? As I stated before:
Quote:A new suggestion for future firmware: When users set the "Engine OFF" option to "Off", the firmware should gray all other options out PRESERVING its current values but, internally, these options would be set to OFF and "Sharpness" and "HDR Saturation" set to "50" (users won't notice in the UI this internal change). When users reenable the first option (enable the engine), the firmware should apply previously saved values for all other options and they should be unlocked. This will avoid misunderstandings and will allow users to preserve their previous setting when changing Imprex status. I insist that the UI should be intuitive and users don't have to remember the proper values to entirely disable the Imprex Engine. That will make users' life a bit more easy.
What do you think about this?

Thanks a lot for your patience. I know I'm a bit boring Blush
