RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - xbmcuser01 - 2017-11-03

Few days ago version 5.4.5 (the latest as of time of writing) stopped working. Uninstalled manually like described on page one of this topic (i.e. deleted 2 directories). Re-installed from zip. Still the "script failed error". Doesn't matter if I use my own API keys etc. I use a Raspberry Pi. More people have this prob?

I hate watching youtube on my PC.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - anxdpanic - 2017-11-03

@Alexsource: I will look into adding it.

@xbmcuser01: 5.4.5 is broken on 14.x, to resolve it before the next official release you can download the 5.4.6~alpha from https://github.com/jdf76/plugin.video.youtube/releases

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - grendizer - 2017-11-04

Hello, I'm using Kodi 17.5 and YouTube 5.4.5.
I can't login / activate to Youtube through the addon.
I read in the previous posts that YouTube addon works with a Youtube account but not a Google account. The problem is I just deleted my YouTube account and now I login to YouTube only with my Google account.
Should I wait for a new version of the addon? Or should I use an API key? What's an API key exactly? I never used it before.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - liebezeit - 2017-11-06

Just wondering if anyone knows why I'm having such a hard time keeping this add-on logged into my youtube account. It seems every few days I'm logged out again and have to go through the whole double-activation thing again. (The settings for private api keys are also lost.)

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - blindhai - 2017-11-06

I have a question: Why would you go through all the trouble creating your own api key, when you could just switch through the Api preset key sets (0 to 5)?

Simply because whit Personal API you obtain a personal daily limit........... whit key preset you have idea how many people over the worlds can use same keys included ? Reach limit it's very frequent....

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - qwertyy - 2017-11-06

@anxdpanic Is it possible to make videos playing in 1440p / 4k with 60 fps? Currently I get only 30 fps with resolution above fullhd.

You are aces! To avoid breakage of things I never upgrade. So I cannot remember "upgrading" my Kodi to ver. 14.1 Must figure out  way to stop these updates: "if it aint broken don't try to fix it" is my motto.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - DjDiabolik - 2017-11-07

I have a suggestion about possibly feature:
Look that programmed live:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKccbKefgLg

It's also present on "My Subscription" but when try to reproduce i obtain a notificaion says "UNKNOW"...... it's possible to be otain the "days" remain as happens on a pc browser ?

And another things.... if i access to All subscriction channel list and choose a channel... if this channel it's currenly "in live" because that live that's not compair on "video" list  but it's compair only on "My Subscriction" ?

Good for you. Whether you reach a limit also depends on what time of day you use kodi, the closer you get to the 24 hour clock over, the greater the likelihood that the limit has been reached. If it works for you, excellent. For those of us for whom it is a problem, the simple option of using your own key is damn good.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - jmh2002 - 2017-11-07

Another way of looking at this would be the opposite of what was posted earlier:

Why go through all the trouble of needing to switch through the Api preset key sets (0 to 5) every time the limit is reached when you can simply make your own Personal API Keys, once, forever, and never have this problem ever again on any of your devices... ?

This option is also more user friendly since it avoids family members needing to know how and when to switch keys, or just simply complaining that 'YouTube doesnt work anymore'.

In additon, as mentioned in the FAQ in Post #3 on Page #1 here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=267160&pid=2299963#pid2299963, making your own Personal API Keys will also reduce the load on the shared keys for other users.

So you are also helping the rest of the Kodi community when you do this too Smile

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - PantsOnFire - 2017-11-08

Hey all, quick question.

Using my Android 5 phone, latest YouTube app.
Have Kore installed. Share, Play On Kodi.

Works as ever, but I just noticed it's playing only 720p on Kodi, when the video in question may be in 1080, or even at 1080 with 60fps.

Does the add-on support the 1080p60 videos ?
