Maybe @fritsch or @FernetMenta will be kind enough to take a look and give their (way more informed) opinion.

Please disable passthrough and play from local disk. Choose the very same file.

First of all thank you for looking into it fritsch!

passthrough: Disabled
media played back from local usb drive. (same video) playback has same issues with frames being dropped
Build #0523 : debug log

Please additionally enable "Sync Playback to display" please. Same issue?

With "Sync Playback to display" it looks like a lot less frames are being dropped.

This is what FernetMenta and I use - so it's no wonder that it works - never the less I forwarded your issue and starting next week I will have time again to look into kodi stuff.

It does not work on both of my systems. I have passthrough disabled and sync playback to display enabled.

Your problem is different. If I would not know better I'd say the hardware is too slow to play that file. Make fully sure, that you disabled HQ scalers, e.g. you forced bilinear for that file. If possible upload a sample somewhere. Really looks like a bad demux or something. Only this release group is affected?

@Milhouse

I install today LibreElec on a Pi3.... when you will bring this cool boot animation to x86? Smile

If thats the case this should be on #420 as well a problem but with that build everything plays fine, same as with your EGL Builds. I never had performance issues with the NUC or the Chromebox even with high bitrate files and DTS demuxing etc. I set kodi to cach more of the files (100MB) to eliminate the possibility of a network related caching issue.

If someone writes a simple h264 video player that works with all x86 video drivers (or alternatively with only the frame buffer) then I'll add it. Don't see that happening though, so don't hold your breath.

(2016-05-23, 23:26)Milhouse Wrote: Yeah, sounds like it could be a hardware error if your previously stable installation is now throwing the same error.

Even so, it would be good to test the new driver once you have a stable system.

I'm back in business. Memory arrived today and I have a stable system again. Later I want to test K17 on the Nvidia system ...

besides and OT, am I too stupid to install LE (I used the 7.0.1 image) on a bootable USB stick?! Possibly yes. Did a quick test with two different 8G USB sticks and both did not boot after I installed LE on them. The install stick by itself worked and I was abel to select the traget USB stick. Both showed some warning 'don't mess with boot... going back to ... " or something during boot. In case this should work would anybody point me in the right direction (best by PM I suppose) on how to get a LE install on an bootable USB stick. No hurry please, I'm on a business trip and back on Sunday.

RE: LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86 (Kodi 17.0) - john.cord - 2016-05-25

I cleaned the Chromebox from dust to sort possible overheating/throtteling issues out. I updated to the latest Libreelec Build and disabled HQ Scaling (now switched to Bilinear). I tested Big Buck Bunny and some TV Show Episodes and atm no issues. Weird Huh The Chromebox played everything fine with HQ Scaling till Build 420.

I just wrote (using dd) the uncompressed LE 7.0.1 image to a 4GB USB stick, booted the 4GB stick then created the system on a second 8GB USB stick (option 1), then booted with the second USB stick without any problem (this on an AMD UEFI based system). I'd suggest trying a different memory stick (or both). If you don't resolve the issue, a new thread would be best.
