RE: Intel Apollo Lake - flyingernst - 2016-11-30

Cruxial DDR3 1866 4GB and Kingston DDR3 1600 4GB work both correctly (primestable for hours), but with both Rams you have this dual-boot-to-bios "feature" after dis- and reconnecting form/to energy. I have this feature with both Ram, in single and dual channel mode.
I wonder if anyone doesnt have this problem. I dont think so.

I use 1x Crucial and 1x Kingston DDR3 1600 4GB modules. No problems with this combination

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - elrik - 2016-11-30

Thanks Guys! I dont need dual boot, I hope can running only Libreelec, audio HD work correctly ? No need 3D neither

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - flyingernst - 2016-11-30

No, missunderstanding. Dual Boot ist working. Problem is that if you disconnected the Player from energy and Start it After reconnecting: it automaticly reboots right in the Moment when you expect the bootscreen. It Goes Off, on, then biosreport, then normal booting to whatever you habe Installed. As Long as you dont disconnect the energy cabel it always behaves normally

Ok, now I understood you, I will not leave it without energy, but it is well know.

I just ordered 2 modules of 4GB CT51264BF186DJ

Could you confirm that the HD audio works correctly?

Thanks, sorry for my confusion, my english sucks...

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - flyingernst - 2016-11-30

Hd Audio Works on Win 10, KODi, See my Videos. It does not work as passthrough on libreelec, you need to use decoding by the Htpc to multichannel pcm. The Developer are working on this.

Is dual channel memory important for 10bit hevc 4k playback (on a 1080p TV, 4k TV will come later)? Regarding playback capabilities, does it matter which of the Asrock boards to buy. Mean any difference reg. playback between Pentium J4205 and the Celeron J3455?

Thanks for clarification and your help here Smile

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - flyingernst - 2016-12-02

Video runs the Same Performance on 3455 and 4205, I have both. I think gpu is fast enough for Single channel. Didnt proof it until know.

Would be great if you could make a quick test Smile Thanks a lot Smile

So, how do you play HEVC 4k files with these? Do you have to boot kodi from linux? I can't get anything to play properly in windows, potplayer "kind of" works in HW mode, but that is it. Everything else pegs my CPU at 100%.

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - flyingernst - 2016-12-04

Win 10 and KODi

After further research it appears the sample clip I was playing was 4K HEVC with HDR. Oops. The big buck bunny 4K hevc 10bit appears to play fine.

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - flyingernst - 2016-12-04

10bit Files dont always Play fine in my case. If I screw op Color settings in Intel Driver and in KODi...then some Files stutter or have synch Problems. Sometimes I have Color errors...pink and purple artefacts, especially in Dark scenes.

Hi,

are there any news concerning HD Audio Issue in Libreelec? Did a newer Kernel already fix this?

Thanks!
Chris

Hello.

Thanks for the info in this thread.

This is my review for ASROCK J4205-ITX & J3455-ITX

Same problems with the sound HDMI passthrough DTS & DD 7.1, DD 5.1 works.
