Worked perfect, thanks a lot.

I spoke too soon. It seems to work for a few TV toggles but after 10h or so it reverts back to HDMI.

If you think this is Libreelec specific let me know and I'll post on their forum.

The Kodi log doesn't show much, no errors. Devices are discovered the same:

Fixed this by setting "Keep audio device alive" to "Always"

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - Devil-Strike - 2017-06-06

just a question is there any updated LE9-KODI_AGILE build that have the secure Inputstream.adaptive build in? only 1 I can found is from april 12.

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - lejose - 2017-06-06

I don't think Ive seen one around. As far as I know Milhouse exclusively builds from master and not agile ?

Correct. @piotrasd might have an agile build though.

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - Devil-Strike - 2017-06-07

Normally I use millhouse builds, but like netlfix on kodi also Smile now switching between builds.

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - archy121 - 2017-06-07

I have been looking into a solution that will allow me to replace the roku2 for watching uk on demand TV and my HTPC for movies (1K/4K) & lossless HD music playback. HDR and 3D would be nice to have for future upgrade as currently I'm still in love with my reference Kuro pioneer TV. Maybe 2018 will be year for OLED screen upgrade.

The plan is to use the current HTPC as a fileserver and have it remotely stored to minimise noise to the TV room. Ethernet will be used for connectivity.

I came across the new Mele Apollo PC and it seems to tick all the boxes.
My concerns are whether the onboard fixed 4gb memory will be enough to run w10 and 4K movies and
Also will the Intel firmware upgrades also work on this to fix known audio pass through issues etc.

What are your thoughts on this solution ?
Does this box use DP>HDMI and if so will the Intel FW upgrades work to fix it or are they specifically for their NUC's only ?

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - sm83 - 2017-06-07

I picked up a J4205-ITX after reading about it on this thread. The main reason was for its ability to output 4k to tv and audio to my non-4k receiver via DVI. I got it up and running with a picoPSU, 8gb ram and 120gb SSD. Windows 10 and LE worked fine via HDMI. However when I connected via DVI, the screen flickers quite badly, or doesnt seem to 'sync' with the TV at all. I then returned the J4205 thinking it was faulty and got a J3455 (as J4205 was out of stock by then). I have the same problem with the J3455 too. I have tried everything I can think of but cant fix the problem. Did any of the J4205 or J3455 owners have similar problems with their DVI port?

Yes, but note i only had similar problems in windows, and only when connecting HDMI->4k tv and DVI-> receiver. Others have done it ok, but i couldn't ever really make it work.

Just bought a 4k receiver, problem solved.(although costly)

I have not experienced this issue with the J4205 and have been running LE for about 6 months now. I can't say this is not an issue with Windows 10, because I have not used W10 with the J4205. I have a Pioneer VSX-53 receiver and a Samsung JS8500 4k TV.

With confirmed inclusion of M.2 SSD and IR this could make an excellent value HTPC if the DP>HDMI has been implemented well with fully functional HD pass thru.

thanks!

does anybody know if there is still work in progress on the hd audio issue?

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - fritsch - 2017-06-18

Silence on intel bugtracker, feel free to bump it: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98797 by providing another dmesg with drm.debug=0xe booted.

Edit: Btw. what even more sucks for me is, that sometimes the kernel does not want to open > 2 channels, e.g. you end up with a 5.1 sink but only 2 channels (FL, FR working) ... also a kernel bug. As I currently have no time for kodi in my freetime I switched to the DVI (HDMI) out.

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - wrxtasy - 2017-06-19

The LibreELEC Intel guys (on Slack) when I last chatted to them recommended users wait for a proper HDMI 2.0 implementation and skip the current Apollo and Kaby Lake series all together.

Apparently new Intel Iron with proper HDMI 2.0 is going to be called something like Coffee Lake and Gemini Lake. Wink

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - dexter98 - 2017-06-19

Agree.

But to be honest, native port on hdmi1.4 (either directly on chipset or via DVI->hdmi) runs without issues. Currently running on windows but libreelec also ran fine. So up to 4k 30hz I still find Apollo lake nice platform. I watch only movies anyway, so I don't care about 4k 60hz at all.

Only issue I encounter is av sync in some 3d material, but I doubt whether that is related to CPU/gpu.
