RE: Intel Apollo Lake - dumpling - 2017-07-22

Isn't Apollo Lake(J3455/4205) megachip capable HDMI 2.0 only? HDR require 2.0a if I'm not mistaken.
So Apollo Lake will never output HDR regardless of OS.

I'm happy if someone can prove me wrong because I'm using J3455 myself.

Dolby Vision tunnels through HDMI 2.0 (and I think HDMI 1.4b) I think.
HDR10 is HDMI 2.0a.
HLG is HDMI 2.0b, as is I think HDR+10.

So it depends which flavour of HDR you are talking about.

Great. There's still hope!

BTW, Mod. Can you edit the first post put a summary of current Apollo Lake compatibility and solution/fix? It will be a great help to the new guys.
Go through all the post in this thread just become too time-consuming now and leads to same question being posted again and again.
The common question I can think of, for instance, HD audio issue & fix, Apollo Lake capability on current Kodi on different OS namely LibreElec, Linux, Win 10.
Someone posted a summary in the thread but I couldn't find it.

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - fritsch - 2017-07-23

If you post the summary, we can for sure add it.

Yeah but AFAIK HDMI 2.0 to HDMI 2.0a is just a software/firmware/driver update. Not different hardware.

hello @all

is there now any chance that DTS-HD or True-HD will work via libreelec or just on windows 10 so far? (after applying chip set upgrade, latest intel driver)

thank you!

it's an issue on the Linux driver side, will have to wait for Intel to fix

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - c_future - 2017-07-26

Thanks a lot for clarification

so I'll wait and use the windows 10 installation for now.

there - everything is working nicely - had my first 4K movie with DTS HD playing.

One last thins came to my attention (maybe due using the lastest nightly 64bit master build?)
http://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/windows/win64/master/
KodiSetup-20170723-51a70ff-master-x64.exe

when using the kodi wasapi as audio output device sound output is silent every some (maybe 5 to 10?) minutes for a couple of seconds (no sync issues - just no sound).

switching to directsound hdmi device "fixes" the issue but its not the preferred output device as described here for example: http://kodi.wiki/view/Windows_audio

----
anyone had issues so far with kodi 64bit - Wasapi - win10 - hd audio ?

thanks a lot!

No audio problems here

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - Valter84 - 2017-08-01

I am really happy with my htpc setup with asrock j3455. I hope we will get HDR working soon, only thing I am missing on my 4k HDR tv.

Yeah still needs to support HDR for that to actually matter (Apollo Lake decodes HEVC 10-bit and doesn't support HDR right now... or maybe ever - thanks Intel)

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - username145 - 2017-08-08

How smooth is the interface on an Apollo Lake device? Is it choppy/jerky while scrolling through a library with fan art, for example? What about using the interface while a video is playing in the background?

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - wallofsound - 2017-08-08

You'll have to enable 2160p 60hz to get smooth Interface.

RE: Intel Apollo Lake - fritsch - 2017-08-08

Why that? Running it in 1080p50 perfectly. Here is a video posted somewhere.
