Ok, I've heard that the BBC have now blocked RTMP streaming as some apps (such as Orbit) were downloading the Flash streams and ending up on P2P sites. Which sucks Sad

- ijhammo - 2008-09-13

So does that mean Game Over for this plugin? I guess it does Sad

- Rocky5 - 2008-09-13

So if its game over for this plugin can we go back to downloading the files like the old script this way it will work on all formats ie XBOX

- marlboroman1 - 2008-09-13

may be the problems the is similar to the one this patch deals with

http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/4624

from the description the symptoms seem to be the same ie the stream doesn't start

I try applying the patch but i couldn't mange it as i don't no how and I'm really hungover which isen't helping at all Laugh

I guess it depends on whether the BBC really have stop the streaming feeds. If they have, we are pooped!

However, if the download them first option still works it not the end of the world. Wink

Why do people think the streams are 'blocked' or the plugin isn't working? Using iplayer plugin 20080822 with current svn (revision 15541) on Windows is working fine for me.

The latest SVN of the plugin and the 200809102132 version both say they cannot connect to the (BBC) server. This is even worse than previously but could possibly be a temporary BBC problem. Version 200809010721 still gets stuck when trying to open a stream.

However having reverted all the way back to 200808221345 I can confirm like you say that it does successfully play streams although this older version lists different days (a feature the BBC broke) and each day lists the same programmes (due the BBC breaking this).

So the old 200808221345 is the best/only version to use at the moment.

could you provide a link to that version of the plug-in I couldn't find that revision it on the xbmc-iplayer google code site. Most people are using Alpha 4 myself included and it not work on that

i just upgraded to rev15554 on window XP using the latest iplayer pugin 200809102132 and it crashes trying to open the stream what OS are you usingHuh

I've downloaded iplayer plugin release 20080910 from http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-iplayer/downloads/list and it works for me ... to an extent.
It needs the BeautifulSoup library added to it's directory first Eek
http://www.crummy.com/software/BeautifulSoup/#Download

Then the 'highlights' and 'popular' links mostly worked for me, the 'list all' gave various python errors. Can't see any signs of not being able to contact a BBC server (unless i'm reading the output wrong)...

- johnsto - 2008-09-15

D'oh, knew I'd forget something, and BeautifulSoup is it. Ta for the heads-up.

It's interesting you guys can connect (and stream?) while I couldn't get it to work at all on any version last week. I'll have another investigation tonight. Glad to hear it's still (partially) operable.

I see someone has already replied with how to get the older version (I had kept a copy). In answer to the rest of your question, I am using Plex 0.5.18 under Mac OS X 10.5.4 I do have access to Atlantis Alpha 4 for Mac OS X as well and will try that as well later and get back to you.

I could not get the old version working last week either (as per my previous post), however it was working this weekend even if the newer ones still are not (possibly due to the missing Beautiful Soup file). Are you going to include it in the download from your site?

- johnsto - 2008-09-15

Hmm, still no luck getting any version to work here at all. I just get a log filled with 'DEBUG: unknown packet type received: 0x16' after opening the RTMP stream, and have to terminate the process to stop it. I'm on SVN #15111, maybe it's just that build that's broken.

Nevertheless, I've updated the script and reverted a couple things, can you give it a go for me?

for me the new vershion is the same as the last crashes trying to open the straem may be is a broblem wth the windows port has any one got this to work with linux will test on the xbox later as RTMP has been fixed thanks to frosty Smile

- frosty - 2008-09-15

johnsto: "DEBUG: unknown packet type received: 0x16" isn't a problem with your script - it's a way a flash server can send audio&video that's not currently supported in the XBMC implementation.
I've worked a little on a patch to add it, and while I've had some success I'm not entirely convinced it's right yet. If you could let me know which stream you were attempting to play, I'll have a look.
