Thanks John, lets see if this works eh.

I know, the rtmp is easier neater and accepted but doesn`t run on the xbox.

There is the rub, iplayer for every other platform and sod the xbox.

What if you pretend to be the wii version?

After all the PS3 has iplayer thanks to a website which pretends to be the wii version.

noob question - futwick - 2008-09-20

Huh sorry if this is an obvious noob question but...

I haven't even got to the streaming problem yet - whenever I click on the iPlayer plugin I get a "Could not connect to network server" error. I can't even get the list of BBC channels to appear. Anyone know how to solve this?

My Xbox is connected to the internet - the Apple Movie Trailer script is working.

I am running T3CH XBMC 2008-09-19 SVN rev15640-BETA1 (because the changelog says it contains "RTMP support backport to XBMC for Xbox").

Tried it, same results. The stream version doesn't matter, which is why this may just be an issue with the XBMC RTMP client rather than one of authentication.

This looks like an error loading the script. Please can you turn on debug loggin (Settings -> System), reproduce this error, then upload xbmc.log to http://pastebin.com/ and link it here.

There are issues with HTTP streaming on the XBOX too (thread blocking and whatnot) and HTTP pre-downloading is not a nice solution either.

However, RTMP on the XBOX is still under development. A fix was committed a few days ago that should see it operational in the next SVN build.

See: http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/4498

thanks to frosty

The latest T3CH build has the above as a change, sorry but I've lost the plot on if this is enough to get the iplayer working on Xbox?

I presume not
Quote:The iPlayer RTMP streams no longer appear to be supported by XBMC/Boxee (or are being blocked) and hence this plugin is now broken once again.

Just wondered?

Cheers

I've not yet tested it unfortunately, plan to do so ASAP. I've got the latest T3CH though so it's just a matter of trying it.

Alright will download the latest t3ch build and try it.
If not my additions to veoh proxy have means to stream the h264, i have a nice system that doesn`t use threads just consumer and producer and queue.

futwick, you do realize that this is a plugin and not a script, right?

Please see the wiki about adding plugins.

Wes

It looks like a script error rather than a config error, actually, so basically - my fault.

Looks like need to make an empty iplayer2.log file somewhere so the logging module can open it and start writing. Or I've got my logging setup wrong (append rather than write.)

Can't look at it now but shall later. Apologies for the delay.

No need to apologise.

I've tried an empty iplayer.log file in the root of my xbmc installation and in the same folder as the iplayer plugin. Neither were written to and xbmc.log still says...

[Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'iplayer2.log'

- johnsto - 2008-09-21

Ok, just managed to commit a fix, please try the latest SVN plugin release:
http://xbmc-iplayer.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/xbmc-iplayer-plugin.zip (Edit: corrected)

This saves all debug output to xbmc.log (rather than iplayer2.log)

On my system with the latest T3CH release, behaviour is identical to the Linux version - i.e. lots of packet 0x16 errors - but this is way better than before Smile

We're nearly there!
