You should not use the plugin in library mode, as doing so will give oddly-named titles, as you've discovered already Smile

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yep - the titles are now working correctly in non-Library-Mode.

Did this or another plugin for XBMC used to work from the iPhone streams because I remember there used to be alot of hype about it...or am I completely wrong?

I take there is a specific reason/obstacle that made you use the Nintendo Wii streams and not the H.264 flash streams that are now available on the iPlayer website?

Oh and by the way - the TV/Radio streams are split into folders and work fine for me Smile

Correct, the original script used the iPhone streams as they were the only ones accessible by the XBMC at the time. Since then RTMP support has been added to XBMC, allowing use of the Flash streams instead.

cheetah05 Wrote:I take there is a specific reason/obstacle that made you use the Nintendo Wii streams and not the H.264 flash streams that are now available on the iPlayer website?

There are 2 H264 streams on the iPlayer website - (1) the low-res H264 HTTP MP4 'streams' as used by the iPhone and (2) the high-res H264 RTMP Flash streams which are served via Flash 9 and above. Unfortunately, the Flash H264 streams (2) don't work on XBMC as the RTMP implementation doesn't support it at the moment. And the iPhone H264 streams (1) are rather low-res, and a huge pain to actually access.

So currently the plugin uses one of two streams, the Flash VP6 stream (the default), or the Flash Spark stream for the Wii (slightly lower quality), as selected by the user in the plugin settings. These are the best streams available to XBMC, but still an improvement over the iPhone streams that were used before, due to improved resolution/quality, and the fact they can be streamed/accessed instantly. Hopefully XBMC will soon work with the Flash H264 RTMP streams, and if/when that happens I'll update the plugin, and we'll get another bump in picture quality.

Not that the current Flash streams are bad - on a 720p screen they're a little blocky, but perfectly watchable!

I've added a patch for the hang at end of playback in http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/5246

Thank you again for the explanation!

I am actually on a 1920*1200 screen so it's a little worse for me....but its ok at a decent distance away.

Thanks for the great plugin!

Cool. What are the chances of it being included in the main branch for xbox I wonder? Nod

Just to clarify: when you say you've removed a 500MB buffer, does that still leave the 20 second buffer you also mention? I'm desperate for more/bigger buffering. Sad

Thanks to Johnsto for adding the channel logos and support for the radio stations.

Unfortunately I have to report that on a Mac at least, while the TV programmes work fine, the radio programmes are completely non functional. It lists the programmes but will not play any (or at least the various ones I tried).

As usual here is the log file

http://pastebin.com/m4f4cb78c

Note: I have tried the plugin with both XBMC Atlantis Beta 2 for Mac, and Plex 0.5.21 for Mac. This was under Mac OS X 10.5.5

PS. Programmes which have an ampersand in their name still show up in the plugin as
Code:
&amp

At the risk of simply adding noise to this thread I just wanted to point out, in case anyone is interested, that this plugin also works very well on the AppleTV running XBMC Atlantis B2.

If anyone wants any info about how I have it set up or needs any testing done on the AppleTV (I also run Linux, OSX, Xbox versions too) then please get in touch.

Cheers

Great news! I followed the wiki guide for OSX to try and get it running on the apple TV:

1. Copied the zip's contents to a folder called 'iplayer' in the video plugins directory: ~/Library/Application Support/XBMC/plugins/video/iplayer

2. When i go to go to the 'Videos' section, click 'Add Source' then click 'Video Plugins' only Apple Movie Trailers is an option?

- spiderlane - 2008-11-02

Hi.

I didn't actually have to add a new source. I simply went to the video plugins sections straight from the root and "iplayer" appeared.

Does that work for you?

on both mac and appletv, the iplayer does not play radio streams.

i have pasted the xbmc.log file contents to http://pastebin.com/m3e9a7f81

hopefully this contains some useful info!

my setup. mac & appletv have the main 3 codec installs for QT. copied the downloaded files to the plugin directory, browsed it as a source. it lists the episodes/streams, but when i click it nothing happens (details in the log) and after i click a few times, i get:

Quote:Playlist playback aborted
Too many consecutive failed items

video playback using this iplayer plugin was fine before the update, though i havent verified this as yet... a must-listen-too killers gig is on bbc radio 1 as i type! though i have to listen to it through freeview, not the glorious xbmc and all its visualizers ;o)

Can you try a newer build? Anything from October onwards should work.

- jingo_man - 2008-11-04

i downloaded the svn zip file just before installing it. the previous log was from my imac's xbmc, which may not be the beta2 release (if you were insinuating to upgrade the whole app, not the plugin).

this is the log from my appletv which is definitely atlantis beta 2, with the latest svn of the plugin. http://pastebin.com/m7b5a3e56

hope its more helpful...

I recently also reported none of the radio stations works for me either. See http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=238029&postcount=738 there is a link to my debug log in that post.

- jingo_man - 2008-11-04

having looked around the xbmc files, this file didnt have execute permissions (the others in the same folder did have this permission, and showed as a unix executable in the finder):
/Applications/XBMC.app/Contents/Resources/XBMC/system/players/paplayer/libFLAC-osx.so

i changed this, with a sudo chmod +x command, restarted xbmc (and rebooted) but no joy. is it possible that the audio codecs are not installed properly? what others are there to check?

i installed all the codecs from the nitotv smart installer and the other perian codecs option. then installed xbmc after, so would expect it to be able to use any of these codecs...
