Not seeing that. What platform, XBMC build and version of the plugin do you have? What show titles are you looking at? Can you submit a log (using http://pastebin.com/ perhaps)?

Cheers

BBC iPlayer 'High Quality' flash streams (H264 video, AAC audio, ~790kbit) can be played successfully with the following two patches applied:
with thanks to motd2k for his work on this.

Info for scripters:
In media info from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/4/mtis/stream/<id>
Media described as bitrate="796" type="video/mp4" encoding="h264" should play fine from kind="level3" servers with URLs constructed in the usual way. These don't require extra bytes to be appended to the connect packet as described earlier here http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=223239&postcount=527

An URL like this was working for me: rtmp://bbciplayertokfs.fplive.net:1935/bbciplayertok?authString=token=c3RhcnRfdGltZT0yMDA5MDMxODEyMDAzMCZlbmRfdGltZT0yMDA5MDMxOTEyMDAzMCZkaWdlc3Q9MTI4MTM3N2MzYzk3NWEyNjFmYWExM2I1MGFmM2RlYzg=&aifp=v001&slist=mp4:b000ftfmbH264108955214
Note the bizarre value 'token=...' for authString, so this may not be technically right.

Info for everyone else:
Please be patient for this to be supported. Realise it won't work until you have a build done after the patches have been commited to svn by a developer, and the plugin has been enhanced. Anyone complaining it doesn't work when they've got the wrong build will be met with extreme impatience.

Any chance of getting the iPlayer to work in the States via a proxy? Just asking.

This sounds like you have XBMC library mode turned on. I have certainly seen that the programme names become 'strange' when library mode is active, try turning it off (i.e. going to File mode) and then try using the plugin again.

If this confirms this is the problem, then this is an issue I and others would like to see improved in this plugin (i.e. have human readable programme names even when using library mode).

I gave that a go just now by setting up an Apache reverse proxy, but my Apache foo isn't up to doing it properly. I can set up a proxy for bbc.co.uk/iplayer (on my server here in the UK) but it's quite a complex site, with lots of URL schemes to be re-written and stuff, and then there's all the Flash stuff too. Not trivial.

Now the RTMP patch is in the SVN has the plugin been updated to use HQ streams?

The patch was a first stab at supporting higher quality streams but for the BBC streams it isn't working properly yet. I have supplied frosty with an updated version of the plugin which he can develop against so as soon as a working update is availiable there will be an updated plugin available too.

Gilgongo, thanks for your help. I finally found a few BBC TV streams anyone can watch now without a proxy and have added them to Navi-X. They are only for BBC World News, BBC London, BBC Parliament and BBC Arabic so if you know of any other mms:// streams or something reliable, let me know please. Thanks.

Can anyone recommend whose builds work best with this plugin? I am using a HTPC with Vista32. I have tried IKONS latest build but theplugin flatly refused to play any streams. Currently using the XBMC 9.04 Babylon Alpha 1 release but it still seems temprimental (some streams play fine, some lock XBMC altogether and require a restart).

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Try looking here http://ocs.nl/xbmc/ . Jester lists one from the start of March which seems to work ok.

Thanks for the info, I had been using jesters builds until he stopped updating them. I'll try his last build and see how I get on.

Is there anyway to record the radio streams in iplayer, as if you were recording a Shoutcast stream?

I guess Im a bit of a horder with this stuff, I listen to Last.Fm using the plugin ( alot), but cant record Sad Same with iplayer live radio.

I suppose the nature of the stream is different to that of a Shoutcast stream then, but I'm not sure how. It would be great to record Smile
