read on xiaomi forums someone found a way to go from Nougat to MM preserving DRM

http://daivietpda.com/2017/11/mdz-16-abhuong-dan-downgrade-from-nougat-7-0-to-6-0/
I've already tried that and it seems a safe procedure, everything is working fine and i've mantained all the DRM i had prior to the downgrade (Widevine L1 and Microsoft Playready), so Netflix works and Google cast also works.

The same files play just fine with VLC and MX player.

I have the Nougat 1028 firmware and I use the latest Kodi.

What could cause that problem?
I have the same problem when I use HDMI passtrough. Have you managed to fix that?

Just been briefly testing Nougat Beta build 1560

Using SPMC 16.7.2 with the Example 4 advancedsettings.xml file in sdcard/Android/com.semprpax.spmc16/files/.spmc/userdata folder:

http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO%3AModify_the_video_cache

TIP: use a plain text file named advancedsettings.xml and using SPMC/Kodi's File manager and a USB stick copy that file into the Profile Directory

- 4K VP9 Youtube works - not sure about HDR10.
- 4K - 51Mbps HDR test clip Samsung Wonderland Demo.ts now plays using SPMC (Mediacodec only) without stuttering using a USB2 > Ethernet adapter (Apple brand) & SMB. Even 4K streaming using N Band WiFi sorta works with lots of pre-buffering before playback. AC WiFi is very likely even better.
Really need a longer 4K test video with HD Audio to thoroughly test.

EDIT: - stuttering now on various other longer 4K test clips. I would not use the Mi Box for High Bitrate 4K local content video playback using a SMB Network connection. However using a Plug in USB2 stick - 4K high bitrate plays back without problems. It's SMB that is the bottleneck.

- HDR10 > SDR dynamic range outputs proper colors to my non-HDR 4K TV. Left the HDR Android setting in Auto.
- WiFi was stable, even with Live Channels installed and updated.

- No Kodi / SPMC dynamic refresh rate switching.
- You cannot get Root access with this Firmware

If you (or anyone with 1560 build ) have the time, can you please test this small sample video to see if is any better? (Look at HBO logo, 1080i 30fps)

It only plays ok when using amcodec in other versions.

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - wrxtasy - 2017-12-13

@diogosena, the problem you are finding is Mediacodec only Hardware video decoding has lousy deinterlaced picture quality (and motion) on the Mi Box, even on Build 1560.
That is why you are seeing the pixellation on the HBO Logo with that Interlaced test clip.

Yes you are correct Amcodec Hardware video decoding (and deinterlacing) will give you superior - smooth edges on the HBO Logo. It's the only way to watch 1080i TV properly on AMLogic devices.

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - tiku100 - 2017-12-13

Would you say this new beta is an improvement comparing it to the old ones? I mean, in terms of 4K reproduction and similar with Kodi/SPMC?... Video quality should be the same as we are still stucked with only Mediacodec acceleration, I guess :\

I was hoping they corrected that..
Then, I'll keep with build 1028 + amcodec .

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - Geeeronimo - 2017-12-14

Hello

I have the Mi Box optical audio output connected into the amplifier, and the HDMI output connected to the TV screen.

When I'm listening to music, I want to have the TV screen off. The problem is that when music is playing and the screen is switched off, audio playback stops during ~1s

It doesn't seem to be related to HDMI CEC since I get the same effect with a non CEC adapter that doesn't transmit the CEC signal.

Is there any workaround ?

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - mart6049 - 2017-12-14

Hi all

I have updated to 1560 but have noticed that Kodi is only using two CPU cores. CPU 2 and 3 stick to 0.0. I have done a factory reset with a fresh install of kodi, but still the same.
Anyone else getting this?

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - theface - 2017-12-15

Installed 1560 and it completely fucked up the DRM management in my Mi Box. So no Netflix, Chromecast and so anymore. I have no idea how to fix it, updated from beta 1035 to 1560 via USB and recovery. So be careful with this beta. Anyone an idea how to reset the DRM? The serial is still there, so it´s not the common problem people who tried downgrading back to MM had...

Regardless of that, since adb is blocked in that beta, there´s also no way to make the workaround for the automatic framerate switching working. And it´s still not working out of the box. Wifi seems a bit more stable though.
