RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - wrxtasy - 2018-07-09 Mi Box 3 Oreo Public OTA has been HALTED (click) Quote:Hi everyone (Mark - Xiaomi Forum Moderator) A carefully worded Email I sent that contained the phrase "this Firmware is trashing the Xiaomi Brand" may have had an impact with management. RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - er2es - 2018-07-09 RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - Phat Phreddy - 2018-07-09 (2018-07-09, 05:20)wrxtasy Wrote: Mi Box 3 Oreo Public OTA has been HALTED (click)I think the Admin of Xiaomi Europe forums deleting posts calling out his lies (he was claiming users consented to the update and it wasnt pushed out on them without consent !!!) and banning users who asked him how refusing the update was possible, is doing enough to show what kind of brand it is.. True shit show of an update, handled in about the worst way possible by user blaming. RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - urkalz - 2018-07-09 lol xiaomi is using this box to train their coders and we are the guinea pigs. Things will improve with all you have documented and sent to them. Mark from their forum is doing a great job considering that he doesn't even own device. Xiaomi representatives are finally joining and collecting feedback. Everyone who knows how to collect adb logs are welcomed there. We have to applaud this after almost 2 years of darkness for this box. RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - wesk05 - 2018-07-09 I just wanted to mention that the Mi Box also has true 10-bit output (just like the Vero 4K). Sometime ago, Neil Armstrong from BayLibre had commented that the S905X doesn't have a true 10-bit pipeline. If a 10-bit source is dithered to 8-bit and then upscaled to 10-bit, it is unlikely to have the original 10-bit resolution. Things must have changed in the new kernel, I am just not sure how else I can explain the findings. RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - Maxrunner - 2018-07-09 They're saying an OTA will be released this week for all users it seems. RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - Phat Phreddy - 2018-07-10 Quote:We have to applaud this after almost 2 years of darkness for this box.Strange way of putting 'having a perfectly functioning device.. Darkness ?!?! My (test) box worked just fine.. After a little tinkering and disabling some features of the launcher I had it just how I needed and purchased 4 boxes for nodes on one of my homes network. Now they are paperweights. Luckily I still have some FireTVs around, not ideal, IMO inferior to the previous setup of the Mi Box but at least works unlike the current version. RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - brunobelo - 2018-07-10 I was banned twice, just because I was asking fir FAST solution. Do you have any idea how pissed I am? Bought this mibox on 06/18/2018, now it is useless, because of THEM. I'll never ever ever buy from this company again. It's not true (if they did say that), and the SHIELD is a good example for that. NVIDIA starts rolling out an update, there's issues, they stop the rollout, people get pissed because they don't have the new update, NVIDIA fixes the issues and a week later a new build is getting pushed out. It doesn't take a month to fix bugs. Just replace where people get mad at whatever part of that they're stuck in... Initial Google Oreo certification likely took 1 month simply because it was a major OS update. Minor OS bug fixes, Firmware fixes & updates after that can be pushed out whenever they are ready without going thru the initial Google certification process all over again. It would be ridiculous if for every bug fixing update - certification had to be repeated all over again. Yes Oreo on the S905X Mi Box is a different beast under the Skin with the newer v4.9.54 Linux Kernel and quite a few things have very likely changed (and contributed to the current issues) There was/is definitely dithering and rounding code in the old AML Linux v3.14 Kernel for S905X devices. Darkness ?!?! RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - Jemus - 2018-07-10 Can someone of you tell me how fast/slow wifi is on your MiBox? I did several tests using iperf and what I found strange was that the speed so different comparing MiBox in client mode to MiBox in server mode. MiBox as server: [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 4] 0.00-1.01 sec 9.40 MBytes 78.3 Mbits/sec [ 4] 1.01-2.00 sec 11.4 MBytes 96.4 Mbits/sec [ 4] 2.00-3.00 sec 11.9 MBytes 100 Mbits/sec [ 4] 3.00-4.00 sec 11.9 MBytes 99.6 Mbits/sec [ 4] 4.00-5.00 sec 12.1 MBytes 102 Mbits/sec [ 4] 5.00-6.00 sec 12.1 MBytes 101 Mbits/sec [ 4] 6.00-7.00 sec 12.2 MBytes 102 Mbits/sec [ 4] 7.00-8.00 sec 11.7 MBytes 99.0 Mbits/sec [ 4] 8.00-9.00 sec 12.1 MBytes 102 Mbits/sec [ 4] 9.00-10.00 sec 12.2 MBytes 102 Mbits/sec - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 4] 0.00-10.00 sec 117 MBytes 98.2 Mbits/sec sender [ 4] 0.00-10.00 sec 117 MBytes 97.9 Mbits/sec receiver But when I put the MiBox as client, the speeds are way lower (position of Samsung Note 4 and the MiBox are not changed during both tests): [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 277 KBytes 2.26 Mbits/sec [ 5] 1.00-2.00 sec 8.48 KBytes 69.7 Kbits/sec [ 5] 2.00-3.00 sec 8.48 KBytes 69.5 Kbits/sec [ 5] 3.00-4.00 sec 8.48 KBytes 69.6 Kbits/sec [ 5] 4.00-5.00 sec 5.66 KBytes 46.3 Kbits/sec [ 5] 5.00-6.00 sec 14.1 KBytes 116 Kbits/sec [ 5] 6.00-7.00 sec 11.3 KBytes 92.6 Kbits/sec [ 5] 7.00-8.00 sec 8.48 KBytes 69.5 Kbits/sec [ 5] 8.00-9.00 sec 8.48 KBytes 69.5 Kbits/sec [ 5] 9.00-10.00 sec 8.48 KBytes 69.6 Kbits/sec [ 5] 10.00-10.04 sec 0.00 Bytes 0.00 bits/sec - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 5] 0.00-10.04 sec 0.00 Bytes 0.00 bits/sec sender [ 5] 0.00-10.04 sec 359 KBytes 293 Kbits/sec receiver Speed of the MiBox is different though, whether I perform the tests using a PC/server which is connected to the router via Gbit ethernet or the Samsung Note 4. But speed is still much slower when MiBox is put as client. This can be seen in the picture, as I did't manage to send the results from the box as a text file. picture iperf The counterpart 192.168.10.21 is my server, the 192.168.10.38 is my desktop PC. That's the case because I can't get my desktop PC to respond as an iperf server. Just in case you are wondering why I used the two different counterparts. |
