RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - jvg71 - 2018-07-10

Why is this in the main list:

"DD+ Netflix - bitstreaming audio dropouts. Uninstalled Netflix App update DD+ bitstreaming audio now fine."

Is this with the new beta Oreo?

I have uninstalled Netflix App and still have audio dropouts with Netflix and Kodi using 5.1 DD+ (Factory reset and others also tested...)

I feel this worse with Wifi 5 Ghz. Yesterday, I have had audio dropouts every 20-30 seconds with Netflix 5.1 DD+. With Wifi 2.4Ghz feels better.

I did several tests using iperf and what I found strange was that the speed so different comparing MiBox in client mode to MiBox in server mode.

MiBox as server:
[ ID] Interval           Transfer     Bandwidth
[  4]   0.00-1.01   sec  9.40 MBytes  78.3 Mbits/sec
[  4]   1.01-2.00   sec  11.4 MBytes  96.4 Mbits/sec
[  4]   2.00-3.00   sec  11.9 MBytes   100 Mbits/sec
[  4]   3.00-4.00   sec  11.9 MBytes  99.6 Mbits/sec
[  4]   4.00-5.00   sec  12.1 MBytes   102 Mbits/sec
[  4]   5.00-6.00   sec  12.1 MBytes   101 Mbits/sec
[  4]   6.00-7.00   sec  12.2 MBytes   102 Mbits/sec
[  4]   7.00-8.00   sec  11.7 MBytes  99.0 Mbits/sec
[  4]   8.00-9.00   sec  12.1 MBytes   102 Mbits/sec
[  4]   9.00-10.00  sec  12.2 MBytes   102 Mbits/sec

[  4]   0.00-10.00  sec   117 MBytes  97.9 Mbits/sec                  receiver

But when I put the MiBox as client, the speeds are way lower (position of Samsung Note 4 and the MiBox are not changed during both tests):
[ ID] Interval           Transfer     Bandwidth
[  5]   0.00-1.00   sec   277 KBytes  2.26 Mbits/sec

[  5]   4.00-5.00   sec  5.66 KBytes  46.3 Kbits/sec
[  5]   5.00-6.00   sec  14.1 KBytes   116 Kbits/sec

[  5]   0.00-10.04  sec   359 KBytes   293 Kbits/sec                  receiver

Speed of the MiBox is different though, whether I perform the tests using a PC/server which is connected to the router via Gbit ethernet or the Samsung Note 4. But speed is still much slower when MiBox is put as client. This can be seen in the picture, as I did't manage to send the results from the box as a text file.

picture iperf

The counterpart 192.168.10.21 is my server, the 192.168.10.38 is my desktop PC. That's the case because I can't get my desktop PC to respond as an iperf server. Just in case you are wondering why I used the two different counterparts.
See my post
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=275083&pid=2749178#pid2749178

I have since also purchased a UGreen USB3 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter. Although I am only getting similar speeds to the wifi. Not sure what the issue is as everything else on my metwork is running at Gigabit.

@fleeball
Actually it was your post that brought me to read how to install and use iperf, as I haven't use it before.
But as your pictures just show the results when the Mibox works as the server (or am I mistaken here), I was wondering if the results were the same or as low as mine, if the MiBox is working as the client.

Thought you were using the MiBox as server because the the device the screenshot is taken from seems to be the smartphone counterpart and is obviously the client.

So, could you show me the results of a test, where the MiBox (oreo and non oreo) are working as the client?

Would be interessted in that Wink

Jemus

Similar results in client mode for non oreo
Image

Oreo in client mode shows half the performance when running in server mode.

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - Jemus - 2018-07-11

You need a counterpart to run this test.
So take your smartphone with the same app.

If you take the MiBox as Client you have to write:
-c IP_of_the_smartphone -i 1

On the smartphone you have to write:
-s -i 1

Now you may start the iperf test (server) on the smartphone so that is listening and after that you start the iperf test on the MiBox (client). They should start to communicate now.

You may aswell perform the test the other way round and see if the results differ.

I assume you have to install the APK in the middle box from another place other the play in the middle box right?

Installed from the play store on my phone

Magic IPerf

then downloaded the apk from  here and loaded on to the Mibox - USB stick or across your network with a file manager

https://apkpure.com/magic-iperf-including-iperf3/com.nextdoordeveloper.miperf.miperf

Bear in mind the application runs in landscape mode on the Mibox Smile

According to xiaomi.eu there seems to be a workaround/fix for the auto resolution issue: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/mi-box-3-master-bug-list.44784/

Can anyone of you with a MiBox confirm this?

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - timstephens24 - 2018-07-13

Turning off auto resolution and using manual isn't a fix/workaround.

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - Maxrunner - 2018-07-13

They also said they would release an OTA for all this week...guess not.

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - neik - 2018-07-13

Well, I guess I got fooled by their statement!
Sorry, guys!

RE: Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box) - Phat Phreddy - 2018-07-14

When the admin of Xiaomi.eu claimed it would be a 'couple of days' before the fix would be rolled out.. I mocked him then.

Here we are.. no fix for even the tiny limited sub section of bugs they are tackling.

Anything short of a roll back to MM and allowing people to update at will, as they fix the issues over the next months.. Is just a cop out.
