Save and Restore Settings - ak88 - 2016-08-22

Is there anyway to save settings on the skin and restore them on another kodi installation? Or would someone be able to tell me where to find the settings file to copy? I am using OpenElec and can't find the settings file or an option to save skin settings anywhere.

In openelec you want /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/skin.transparency/settings.xml

You can get to that by typing \\192.168.x.xx (using your pi's real IP) in a windows explorer address bar, then clicking the userdata link that appears and navigating through.
It might work without modification, or it might need some paths adjusting because they're specific to openelec.

You might be able to back up with the Backup add-on (still in the official repo I think) but it's years since I last looked at it.

Thanks - I did a 'find / -iname *transparency*' and couldn't see anything close to what was suggested. Did a lot of digging around and found out that the settings are stored in the guisettings.xml file.

A simple copy from a source machine to keep the settings of Transparency did not work either as Kodi seems to keep a copy in memory and keeps overwriting it. I had to ssh into the box and stop the kodi service, copy the guisettings.xml and restart the kodi service.

Hopefully this will help others in the future.
