RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - fritsch - 2017-02-11

Can someone else please test the posted .dsf file with the atfix build I linked above? Works fine on my machines. Make sure you have at least 5.1 layout enabled in kodi.

Testversion: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/arm/kodi-20170210-0e4dbc5-atfix-armeabi-v7a.apk
DSF-File: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fom071yvdx9c787/23%20-%20ROGER%20WATERS%20-%20Comfortably%20Numb%20%28Multi-Channel%29.dsf?dl=0

On something Android. on my linux boxes all fine.

@fritsch

When I set 7.1 channel in Kodi Audio settings, I have no change to my Receiver Display

Detected as PCM Stereo and only two speaker are active automatically

RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - fritsch - 2017-02-11

Jep. Too sad. Works for me. Let's see what the others find out.

Wooww!!

I´m finding what's wrong in my kodi audio settings fritsch

Dolby Digital Audio Transcoding must be set to On in pass-thru settings

My receiver detect multi-channels correctly after changing this settings

Sorry for my mistake! Confused

Than-you very much for this great fix Fritsch!

Finally all work very good with my setup!

You are running AMLogic as I have seen. That one does not support 2 * 88.2 khz = 176.4 kz from your logs, which is sad, as I wanted to play your DSF's at that rate, which would be exactly half the 352 khz the original file has. Cause of this shortcoming - FW related? the file will be output at 44.1 khz - but as it would have distrubed you, you already had screamed, right? :-)

RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - mrtr32 - 2017-02-11

Yes!

Other finding!

if I play multichannel dsf file and switch to two channel dsf file, I loose audio with the two channels file, play multichannel file and audio play fine

Multi-channels playback of movie or Audio file seems to break 2 channel audio playback.

I don't know if it is a problem that come from Kodi or a Firmware bug?

RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - fritsch - 2017-02-11

If you set kodi top "Best Match" and it continues to happen -> FW bug :-) - go with LibreELEC or something. I am quite happy that the little toy works that well after all.

RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - mrtr32 - 2017-02-12

Thank you very much for your time fritsch!

If I play any multi-channel audio file or movie and pressing Stop, My receiver switch to two channel PCM Stereo instantly and I have no sound from any of two channel audio file like MP3, FLAC or DSF, etc.

Tried Best Match with no luck.

So

I´m very happy because if I Power-up my TV Box, I can play anything!

Turn on: Keep Audio alive? With noise.

RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - mrtr32 - 2017-02-12

Keep audio Alive 1 Minute
Send Noise at On

Something force my receiver to switch to PCM Stereo when I stop Multi-channel file and I can ear no sound from any two channels audio files after that!

I must Power off and Power on my TV Box to solve the playback problem.

I seems to have this problem only when Dolby Digital Audio Transcoding is enabled.

Is this feature can break the two channels audio playback?

RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - fritsch - 2017-02-12

No - only a very broken FW can.

Fritsch

You pointed me in the direction of your post which i have read and i can see that you have highlighted that Kodi on Sony Android TV's does have the DTS/DD 5.1 to PCM 2.0 problems. Is there anything i can do to try to resolve it or do i just wait for the next version to come out?

I'm sure i have set it all up right, Passthrough on, 5.1 on etc your help is appreciated.

Thanks

Try the shitty build. We won't solve this as there is nothing for us to solve.

RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - Gajensen - 2017-02-12

I get it, your frustrated by people like me coming on here asking for help when we don't understand the in's and out of it.

I was under the impression from you title "Team-Kodi Developer" that you and your team were the ones that helped create version 17 of Kodi, which is were these issue started to occur, 16 worked a treat, 17 not so much.

So are you saying the "shitty build" i'm using on my Android TV was created by someone else? if so who?

Cheers

RE: Passthrough Changes with v17 - fritsch - 2017-02-12

No that's the build's name, I am most frustrated that people DON'T read - no matter what I do - they just don't read. I have to answer the same and same and same question again for weeks. Cause average joe on his couch refuses to read.

I created the shitty build, what it does was discussed and described at length ...

Edit: Let's assume you would read this first post: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=289735 from top to bottom. Which questions are still open?
