My goal is acquire a media player to access a remote NAS server through NFS. Is the X9 with its 2 external antennas a better solution than the X8? Or it's irrelevant, and any of them will do (or not) the job? What requirements should have my wireless network to support read smoothly? What would be the limits in quality encoding to play media through wireless? A good router AC will be enough for 4K with HDR 10bits? Or should I forget the wireless, and think in a gigabit cable solution? Thanks Pedro RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - Caramba69 - 2016-11-13 (2016-11-12, 20:31)Vimaro Wrote: Hi, It depends on the quality of your wireless connection. I always prefer a cable connection. Hum, so, you guys never ever use wireless? Not even for testing capabilities of these devices? I was thinking if netflix and other providers requires 25-40mbps of broadband connection speed to play ultra HD content, I was assuming if I have a throughput of 30MB/s in my wireless, it would be more than enough for playing most of these high quality videos. Yes, probably won't work for those such as Jellyfishes with high bitrates than 200 or 300 mbps (?), but are these bitrates normal? Do you find these bitrates in ultra HD Blu-ray? Besides the outside quality and the storage (8Gb vs 16Gb - I won't use local storage), the difference between them are the antennas. Z9S wireless performance is better than Z8? Thanks. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - OlivierQC - 2016-11-13 Good morning Vimaro, The best is to have an ethernet cable. ---------------------------- but if you have your router close to your box, it's possible that it works. a while ago, I had my router (bell home hub 3000) and the Shield TV with wifi in the basement ( 23 feet between both) and it worked perfectly. ---------------------------- i tested the Zidoo X8 Wifi performance in my basement as well as Nvidia Shield TV. i'm not an expert but I think the results are good. In fact the result of the test is very good for a device of this price (109$ US), and I assume the performance will be better with the x9S than the x8 or equal. ---------------------------- Equipment : Zidoo X8 FW 1.2.6. nvidia shield TV FW 3.3. Thanks Olivier. Yes, it helps. It would nice to have a similar test with X9S to see if throughput would be significantly better. But I think X8 would be enough. In future, I will think to use cables for best results, but if Ultra HD Blu-Ray has a maximum of 128Mbps, only these jellyfish sources require more then 200Mbps. thanks to all. BTW: since I don't have any hardware to play those jellyfish sources (even my macbook can't play those), anyone can tell me if the jellyfish tests are only to check if device can play it or not, or if we really can notice the difference between 100Mbps and higher rates? thanks again. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - nikos_a - 2016-11-14 Hello guys... New user of x9s here so I have some questions. My setup is x9s (1.2.6) connected with HDMI to AVR capable of HD audio. a) In my old TV box, PiPO x7, I could play files with 5.1 AAC and have multichannel audio. with ZDMC I cannot. I get stereo instead. With external player I have AAC 5.1 audio. Am I doing something in ZDMC? Everything else plays in 5.1 including HD audio (both DTS-HD and TrueHD). b) Regarding NFS, I have an issue. My NAS is a WD MyCloud 4GB. Runs on latest f/w. When I tried to access it through Media Center->NFS->Selected the device, Zidoo restarts. And it is a strange restart because it restarts with the black background being replaced with pink-ish one!!! For some reason I have to turn off and on the AVR and color comes back to normal. But the color is the least, I am more concerned about the restart when trying to access the NFS volume. My overall impressions of x9s are very positive. I think it lacks bits and pieces but I hope they will be fixed (like the out of sync HD audio). So far it played flawlessly everything I feed it. I haven't tried 3D yet but I will do next weekend. On a side note, I agree with hdmkv about 3D. Abandoning 3D for 4K is ridiculous. 3D has reached its best in 2015/2016 and I enjoy every single movie I watch in 3D. At least I hope LG will keep it in their OLED for a few years or companies will re-evaluate their choice. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - Exile 1981 - 2016-11-14 Hello, I'm trying to use a game controller on the Zidoo. But almost none seem to work, I've tried the Xbox 360, the razer onza and the ps4. All with no luck, the ps4 I got paired and connected but still did not work. I also tried an old Logitech controller, and that one worked but it was suffering from input lag, and the emulator I use(snesx9s) don't got a setting for that. Are there people here using a controller on the Zidoo X9S, if yes which one? Or are there any settings in Android 6 I need to check? Because I saw some videos on YouTube that it is possible to use ps4 controller but the are on android 4 or 5. Thanks in advance. Do you have an idea of the problem ? thanks in advance RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - Caramba69 - 2016-11-15 When can we expect the next firmware to be released? Without glasses of course, they should look as they do in the photo.
