RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - KILLERNADS - 2016-11-30 (2016-11-30, 00:15)hdmkv Wrote: 1. Probably because ZDMC internal isn't leveraging the Realtek h/w player, or at least its full capabilities. I'm sure @mirror88 knows 1. So do they have any intentions of making the internal player as good as the external zidoo player? or atleast better then what the current one is? Also if i was to download SPMC (Kodi for Android) which should use the default in built Kodi player, will that one work as intended or will it be just as bad as the internal ZBMC one? 2. The external sub was downloaded from within the Zidoo Videoplayer. There is an option to download subtitles. I used that to download and play the subs, but they were not appearing at all! Only the embedded subs was working, but they were too huge. 3. The external player bookmarking sounds good, I'm not sure if that was even working or not, will give it another go. However, the problem is when the Zidoo player goes back to ZBMC, it instantly marks it as watched, which also triggers the Trakt.tv watched status etc... Is there anyway to prevent ZDMC from ticking the movie file as watched? It should allow you to manually set it. Automatically setting it just leads to worse problems. Surely, there must be a way to not mark movies as watched, when coming back from an external player? (2016-11-30, 04:47)wrxtasy Wrote: External players are often used to address the extra video features of the Hardware directly without having to go through the proper Android Application Programming Interface channels and use Android's mediacodec from within Kodi. Yes the Zidoo player does have built in bookmarking too, but its not the same as a resume feature which syncs across both your MySQL database and more importantly your Trakt.tv account. Its quite a huge compromise to be without atleast one of these syncing. At the moment, what I've had to do is memorise the time i watched up to in Zidoo player and then when going back to ZBMC, quickly mark the file as Unwatched, then to play it in the internal player and forward it to the same time i memorised and stop it there and let it synchronise! Thats a long tedious task which shouldn't have to be done. I agree with you, these broken features can be quite huge for some people like me, and could make the difference between a purchase/return. Also the fact that the internal video player in ZBMC is broken and doesn't sync the audio correctly. These should be listed. (2016-11-30, 12:16)nikos_a Wrote: About ZDMC and audio out of sync, I already mentioned that 1.2.7 has broke DTS-HD audio playback (beside the issue I described with dropping frames in a file at 60fps). I described the issues here. With 1.2.6 I was happy using ZDMC but at the moment some files are impossible to watch. I really hope that mirror or any other Zidoo dev will see my posts and check the issues because they are major ones. Yes I'm having also issues with audio not syncing inside the internal player. They are completely out of sync by a huge amount of time. Are you refering to the font used everywhere on the zidoo player or are you referring to the subtitle font the player uses? Because there is definitely a problem with the subtitles fonts when you start shrinking it down from the default 20. I went down to font 12 and the fonts characters were all overlapping each other as the letter spacing is too small. Please can this be fixed? It is horrible and reminds me of old cinema fonts that were probably done by a machine like a typewriter. It makes my eyes tired after a few minutes. They must use a modern font for subtitles, at least they can have a look at Kodi/ZDMC and use something similar. Especially in 3D, the fonts are horrible and this is pity because x9s has one of the best if not the best 3D image I have seen from such a box/media player. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - hdmkv - 2016-11-30 Zidoo tried a Kodi-integrated 3D + HD audio playback solution with X6 Pro and didn't succeed. They couldn't ever fully resolve microstutters, macroblocking and other annoying issues. Using Rockchip SoC also didn't help. @KILLERNADS, I can't answer your questions as I don't know Zidoo's plans, nor what they can/can't do. I've added a disclaimer in post #1 that ZDMC and the external/native player are separate. Unless Zidoo devs can pass some kind of a playback status back to ZDMC to mark a video as partially watched or fully watched, what they've done is same as HiMedia, which is to mark video as watched as soon as it's opened (with playback pushed to external). I only use the original PGS subs embedded in the MKV or ISO, so they look as they would using a standard Blu-ray player. But, I can imagine what a SRT type sub might look like if not rendered properly. That was the RockChip SOC that was causing all the microstutter issues on on the X6 and Rockchip did not help fixing atlease that is what i think, Realtek is better hardware and if the can implement X9S/X8 the same way the X6 perform that will be good. To be honest, i don't even need this. I would be happy if it didn't trigger anything at all. So for example when you leave ZDMC and go to external player, it shouldn't mark anything in ZDMC on the movie. Just leave it as it is, then we can toggle the status to whatever we want after we finished watching the movie in external player. I think this would work much better! RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - sloth - 2016-11-30 Is anybody successfully using the Amazon Video App on the X9S? I managed to install the app via Amazon Underground but it won't start any video. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - solitarysolidarity - 2016-11-30 My new Zidoo X9S keeps giving me a Cache Full error (firmware 1.2.6) in Kodi when running certain apps. Is clearing the cache daily just part of Kodi/Zidoo maintenance or is there a way to improve this? Either auto-clearing or increasing the cache limit on the X9S? Stuttering/freezing while streaming is getting frustrating. Apologies in advance for my poor understanding of android boxes. I will be running through the screenshots in post #1 to adjust each setting tonight. Not sure if that will fix it. Also, in a somewhat unrelated note, is there any way to search for corruption or errors with an app/maintenance tool? Or is it just a matter of waiting for something to go wrong before trying to catch an issue (Ex. I had an app fail to launch due to a metadata issue which was solved by reinstalling the metadata - it would be nice to identify these kinds of issues by running a scan as opposed to waiting for an app to fail). Edit: Since I don't know how to edit .xml on an android box, the only solution I can seem to find is that I should install "Addon Installer" and use that to install "Maintenance Tool" and use the "Enable Zero Caching" option - is that correct? Any reason the X9S is having this kind of issue anyways? I bought an expensive box thinking that I would avoid issues like this. Is it just a matter of me incorrectly setting it up or is Kodi designed with a low cache size? Does everyone deal with this cache full issue? I had the same issues with cache full and a lot of stuttering/freezes with my X8 on 1.2.6. I did a lot of troubleshooting and it finally came down to my network switch. I had an old 100 mbit switch behind my receiver which had worked just fine for a long time. I had a Squeezebox, receiver, laptop connected for years without any issues. But when I changed to a new gigabit switch all problems with the Zidoo were gone. My guess is that the NIC is a little sensitive to what speed is it connected to. So please try that out. Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have a switch connected to my router, but my router outputs both a 2.4GHz and 5GHz signal at the same time - you think connecting to the 5GHz would solve the issue? I've come across the below issue. I've installed the Youtube app and try to Pair it from my Iphone 6 you tube app, but i couldn't able succeed because it says no pair code found. Is anyone facing same issue? it's very tough to point remote cursor on Zidoo Android youtube App :-( Note: From ROKU-2, WD PLAY & Chrome cast i can able to pair my you-tube app in Iphone Appreciate your help!!! | ohmraj RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - Dan50 - 2016-12-02 What would you choose now, zidoo x8 or himedia q5 pro? RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - DaMacFunkin - 2016-12-02 You can not question the quality of the Zidoo playback, when it is good it is really good.. but if the device was perfect with none of the imperfections or silly legacy leftovers that Android developers can't seem to be bothered to sort out i would gladly pay double what i originally did. And that is what these cheap box Chinese Manufacturer's don't get, it isn't a compliment in these circumstances to be called cheap, it is a detriment. Invest more time and money on your product, the company that does this will reap better yields, it is what the world deserves. Think: Oppo... |
