RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - hdmkv - 2016-12-27 The main appeal of X9S and X8 is using Kodi to manage your movie/TV libraries, while using the external/native player for actual playback. So, Kodi (in this case, ZDMC, Zidoo's Kodi fork) scrapes your movie and TV posters, fanart and metadata, and actual playback is pushed to the external player, which has better PQ and offers full 3D support. Yes, you can program the Harmony to control X9S/X8. Don't know if "X9S" has been added to Logitech's database yet, but if not, try "Zidoo" and "X9". You can then teach Harmony 'stop' and other functions that are programmable to those red and green buttons on the original remote. Two buttons/functions at a time, then toss the original remote in a cabinet somewhere as you won't likely need it. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - syphon00 - 2016-12-27 quick question, does the X9s have problems with a GPT partitioned drive? I have an 8TB external USB I would like to be able to use with it, thanks RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - Mensy - 2016-12-28 (2016-12-27, 18:35)hdmkv Wrote: The main appeal of X9S and X8 is using Kodi to manage your movie/TV libraries, while using the external/native player for actual playback. Thanx mate will have a mess around before i decide to keep it or not. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - magicarius - 2016-12-29 My X8 was coming with firmware 1.2.6 stay with it or upgrade to 1.2.7 or better wait for 1.2.8? In 1.2.7 audio drop happen only with iso's or with any format? RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - tsainont - 2016-12-29 (2016-12-29, 14:37)magicarius Wrote: My X8 was coming with firmware 1.2.6 stay with it or upgrade to 1.2.7 or better wait for 1.2.8? In 1.2.7 audio drop happen only with iso's or with any format? I use X9S. For me, audio drop happens with mkv in 1.2.7. I just updated my box to 1.2.8 beta5 and already watched 2 MKVs, no audio drops so far. But the movie just paused itself. I have to press > to continue. This happens in 1.2.7 as well. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - magicarius - 2016-12-29 Thanks for answer. I wait 1.2.8 final because use mkv a lot, hope to appear soon. Nothing new here, it happend the same in X6 series. If the player can't do the most basic playback 1080p/2D MKV how the player can do 3D without issues ? Zidoo- Dont run if you can't walk, dont walk if you can't stand RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - Binnetie - 2016-12-30 Does the X9S support full bluray menus? I have version 1.2.27 installed. I tried a full iso bluray from War Dogs en opened it in ZDMC, then it shows a screen where you can choose between play a stream (movie only) or play with menu. The menu looks good, but when i play the movie stutters and the audio disappears after a minute. It also plays the wrong subtitle. When i go back to ZDMC and i select the iso again, i choose to play the main movie stream and i play's without a problem (but the player looks different then when a play with bluray menu. Is this related to the Kodi internal player or the external player from Zidoo? If somebody will test the iso, let me know i can provide it. Otherwise it's a very nice player! I will try a full 3D bluray iso from Gravity. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - Ian Stevenson - 2016-12-30 Who's the manufacturer of the Zidoo box? RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - Mensy - 2016-12-31 Has anyone found a play resume ? if i stop the video and then play it again it plays from the beginning ? RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - hdmkv - 2016-12-31 (2016-12-30, 14:37)Ian Stevenson Wrote: Who's the manufacturer of the Zidoo box?Zidoo, w/Realtek SoC inside. (2016-12-31, 13:15)Mensy Wrote: Has anyone found a play resume ? if i stop the video and then play it again it plays from the beginning ?Yes, the bookmarking/resume option is in settings for the native player. If I recall correctly, you have to press the 'Menu' button during playback of any video and it's one of the options there. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - DaMacFunkin - 2017-01-01 So I have been trying the 1.2.8 beta5, they still haven't fixed the 10bit Auto / 4:4:4 color space bug that causes everyone who uses it problems, do you have an eta on this Zidoo techs? I will not be keeping this box if it can't do what you claim it can do. Also I have tried 3D MVC MKV's, I'm not convinced by it, the same ISO file on all movies I have tried shows more depth imo, infact I think that the MKV effect is just pseudo and they are trying to fool us, if you swap the eyes view on a properly processed MVC file you notice a difference in the depth direction, not so on the MVC MKV files. Is there an explanation? RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - hdmkv - 2017-01-01 Re: the 10bit Auto / 4:4:4 color space bug, @mirror88 can you please address. I'm planning on buying a proper 4K display this year, and I too would want this fixed. Re: 3D MVC MKV's, I tested 4 titles and depth seemed right to me. Try the 'Ruin' sample I posted to the wiki a while back. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - wesk05 - 2017-01-02 I have to agree with @DaMacFunkin, there is certainly a lack of 3D depth with MVC MKVs when compared to MVC ISOs. I have checked it with Hugo, IMAX Under the Sea and Ruin (full version) several times now. 3D from MKVs are certainly inferior. RE: Zidoo X9S & X8 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions - hdmkv - 2017-01-02 You guys are right... re-ripped a couple of 3D discs via MakeMKV and 3D isn't as good as ISO counterparts. But, not noticeable right away... it was an early scene in 'Sammy Adventures' that was more revealing. Playback is definitely smoother than before when 3D MVC was working w/earlier f/w's, so looks like Zidoo has some optimizing work to improve render quality. |
