RE: Intel Kaby Lake Hardware - wesk05 - 2017-04-08

You can get HDR10 output with Windows 10 Creators update and a graphics driver that has WDDM 2.2 support. It seems to work in Kodi, but it is difficult to say whether it is really working in Kodi because HDR10 implementation seems to be flawed. As it is now, the static HDR metadata descriptors being sent in HDMI InfoFrame is incomplete. Only transfer function (ST 2084) and color gamut (BT.2020) information is being sent. This could be a Windows 10 or graphics driver issue.

You can't win with these media players

I can forgo the 3D needs but not the lack UK on demand streaming channels eg ITV Hub etc
Thats a big show stopper for me and it has removed the Shield/Xiomi devices android tv devices.

Looking into viability of FTV2 or else a NUC - max around £150 budget.

If anyone can try let us know your test results.

Is that a direct connection to the TV or you going through your AVR?

What kind of AVR do you own.

I'm trying to get this pass through to work on my Denon X6300H.

HDR is working on PDVD 17

What do you mean by "working"? If it just means that your TV is in HDR mode, then just enabling HDR mode in Windows 10 settings will do that. I would call it as "working" only when HDR10 metadata for the video is also sent in the HDMI InfoFrame. I haven't yet checked PowerDVD 17.

Just tested it myself and HDR is working...

Updated my PC to Windows 10 creator update, so now that we know this Hardware can support HDR is time for Kodi to implement HDR.

Unless you have confirmed that HDR10 metadata is passed through to the display, you cannot say that HDR is working correctly.

If you say that PowerDVD 17 HDR is working for you, then Kodi 17 will also do the same on your hardware.

PDVD 17 is passing the HDR metadata to my TV.

I thought that Intel iGP driver (WDDM) 2.2 was also necessary? Do you have that installed or it is not and 2.1 will do?

How do you enable HDR mode in Windows 10? I have the Creator update installed with all patches and latest Intel drivers.

And by "this hardware" do you mean the Asrock Beebox-S (presumably 7100u) from your signature?
Can anyone else confirm this for other 7100u based boxes, particularly the NUC NUC7i3BNK and NUC7i3BNH

I thought the WDDM 2.2 is included in the Windows 10 creator update, i have to check to see if it is installed.

Was referring to AsRock Beebox-S, was so anxious to test HDR on this box that cost me $99 PDVD 17.

Once you play an HDR file LG HDR TV will pop up HDR notification on the right.

PS: Tested a few HDR file from UHD DEMO and not all of the display in HDR.

DXDiag should tell you that.
