RE: LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 18.0) - JagoUK - 2019-03-22

Hi @Milhouse

I have a Raspberry Pi2 and under Kodi 17 I can watch HD channels fine on the PI without stutter.
(DVB-S2 H.264 1080i 50hz using TV head end server and client on the PI)

DVB-S2 DVBSky960 is the tuner I use.

On your builds (Kodi 18) I get corruption every 10 seconds or so and a repetitive 3 stutters on first playing the channel.
This has happened on your builds for a long time now (As far back as #0925 I think)

I think it may have been ok on very early builds.

I can play it fine as a server to other clients.

Everything else is great.

Thanks.

I believe it the bug log from both versions would be appreciated so that it could be narrowed down

Hi all,

Is anyone else having or had problems with Libreelec Dev Update failing to start up?

Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this, I did a quick search but couldn’t find anything recent and as I use dev update to get milhouse’s latest builds I thought I’d ask the question here.

Currently on libreelec build from 14th Feb so cant say when dev update might have started having issues. Can’t see to find where any errors logs might have been filed Sad

You'll need to contact the maintainer, it's a third party add-on. Errors would be in the normal kodi.log. Recommended solution is to use the built-in update mechanism.

No point contacting. I rose the issue months ago, 0 response

RE: LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 18.0) - MikeKL - 2019-03-22

@Trixster  @Smultie I used to be a regular user of LibreELEC dev updater addon to update every day Milhouse Nightly builds.  But honestly since libreELEC now has an update facility built into libreELEC settings option, there is absloutely no need to use Liberelec Dev updater addon anymore.

Have you both tried as its working well now even though not fully automatic?  Read Note 7 in Millhouse's 1st post in this thread + take a look at my post Here which provides recent image of required settings altered for RPi3 B+

Remarks:
1. LibreELEC dev updater more handy to use - it can download updates in background, has a few nice settings like backuping and turn off overclocking. It can show comments for each available update.
2. Built-in feature to setup custom update channel is buggy - path is case sensitive, it cannot retrieve channel for me if I wrote "rpi2" instead of "RPi2"

Which were nice features, but if the add-on no longer works and isn't being maintained then it's a moot point.

If the original maintainer is not around then fork it and fix it - it's open source.

Case sensitivity isn't a bug, it's a fact of life (unless you're using a Microsoft OS). The Web, Unix, Linux (inc. LibreELEC) are all case-sensitive and if you enter a path or URL incorrectly, it's a case of PEBKAC, not a bug. Smile
