Try the suggestion in this post: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=298462&pid=2833367#pid2833367

Otherwise the contents of dmesg from #0307 and #0330 would be helpful.

My guess is it might have stopped working with #0323 so you could confirm if #0322 is working and #0323 is not working.

Try the suggestion in this post: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=298462&pid=2833367#pid2833367

Otherwise the contents of dmesg from #0307 and #0330 would be helpful.

My guess is it might have stopped working with #0323 so you could confirm if #0322 is working and #0323 is not working.
Hi milhouse,

dmesg:

I tried the suggestion from the post you recommend, and its working again the alsa sound. Thanks!

RE: LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 18.0) - smp1 - 2019-04-06

@Milhouse can you update syslinux to 6.04-pre3 in your builds?

RE: LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 18.0) - Milhouse - 2019-04-07

@smp1 I'm not really sure that's a good idea, to be honest as it looks like 6.04 has been in development for 3 years (6.04-pre1 released 2016-03-03) - is an official 6.04 release likely any time soon as I don't want to carry unreleased patches in these test builds for what could turn out to be years...

https://wiki.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Syslinux_6_Changelog

If there's something that is fixed in 6.04 which is currently a problem with 6.03 it might be better to backport and test a patch for 6.03.

I'm trying to debug an intermittent boot issue with my new Asrock Gemini Lake board. Sometimes (rarely) it hangs right before it tries to boot the kernel - I suspect there is some sort of syslinux/UEFI compatibility issue. Unfortunately there is no legacy boot mode on those boards. I built an image with syslinux 6.04-pre3 but it does not boot at all (bootx64.efi / ldlinux.e64 files appear to be non-functional - if I replace them from ver.6.03 - the board boots).

In future when asking me to include something you know results in unbootable systems it might be a good idea to mention up front that it results in unbootable systems...

I'll try a clean test build here with 6.04-pre3 and let you know how it goes on my Skylake NUC.

It does not necessarily result in "unbootable systems" because I barely know what I'm doing. I edited the version and download path in package.mk and removed the glibc patch - it built successfully but did not boot. I reckon something else has to be done to make it bootable...

Yes, failure to boot a Skylake i5 NUC with 6.04-pre3 here too.

The UEFI boot doesn't work at all - select it and the Boot menu is shown again, so complete failure.

The legacy boot comes up with:
text:

SYSLINUX 6.04 EDD 6.04-pre3 Copyright © 1994-2015 H. Peter Anvin et al

Failed to load ldlinux.c32
Boot failed: please change disks and press a key to continue

Boot error
and then the system hangs.

Bisecting the changes is probably the best option, then ping the author once the bad commit is found.
