Always try running without these first, if you don't have buffering issues, you don't need these settings. What these do is take advantage of the extra RAM of the Shield and increase the size of the buffer, which helps with REALLY high bit-rate content, like 4K UHD blu-ray rips. Also the values, especially memorysize and readfactor, can be tuned to taste. Just remember as your buffer size goes up, so does the wait when you seek forward / backward or first start the video. (extra time for that big buffer to fill up) RE: nVidia Shield TV (2015 & 2017 Models) - UPDATED: Jan 26 2017 - mamaraci - 2017-02-16 (2017-02-04, 00:40)Tatts4Life Wrote: I've thought about getting a hub. The only thing I can't find an answer for is how the system will work with multiple phones. The issue in our home is what if I turn on the system to watch tv and then leave the house, how will the system act for my wife or kids when they want to change the channel or play the Xbox one? If they bring up the harmony app on their phone will it tell them which activity is active? Hi, I'm newbie here... Reading the topic from the beginning to the end, since I'm waiting for my Shield 2017 to arrive (migrating from Fire TV 1) to be the media player in my home theater set-up (sanyo plv z700 + cambridge audio 540r avr + logitech harmony home control). The reason I'm jumping in the discussion is that I saw the question (some time ago, but didn't see the answer afterwards..). I was exactly in the same position, endlessly loving my harmony one remote (which is a beautiful piece of art in terms of device design), and trying to make it work with Kodi @ Fire TV. And even with Flirc TV, I had a lot of issues with button's press repeats (really unsolvable, even with reading 10+ pages of respective forums, reprogramming, tweaking settings in a number of ways and everything...). So, finally I switched to harmony home control (now called harmony companion). Yes, it's not as beautiful face as harmone one, of course, but works much better with Kodi (and Fire TV). First of all, it supports bluetooth vs legacy IR, so Fire TV became much more responsive and robust. And, second, going (finally) to your question, Tatts4Life, if some activity was started either from hardware remote, or from app from mobile, when this harmony app is launched on any other devices (wife's iphone or ipad or whatever else), each time it requests the state from the hub, and doesn't conflict in any way with initial activity start. One can start one activity, and the other family member can see what activity and state of the equipment is, and change that afterwards, if (s)he want to override your wish.. So, no issues, at all. My advice is migrate without any delay I'm happy with that switch, and now looking forward for my Shield to arrive (despite the fact 4K or HD-audio is still beyond my expectations). Moreover, it works over internet, not only from home wifi. So, if you are not in home, you can play with activities as well thru the cloud. I don't use this, no "smart home" devices at my house yet, but it works remotely, if you need this). Hope, that be useful for you. There's no Dolby Vision support on any device right now outside of TVs and the Chromecast Ultra, but Chromecast's suck. It does support Atmos on Vudu.
