Thanks for the answer ! I'll try another file manager .

Check out X-Plore, works REALLY well on the Shield. Easy to navigate with the Shield Controller.

Hello,

Is there any custom krypton builds anywhere?
Just tried official kodi 17 yesterday, and works pretty well (actually better than SPMC since 5.1 experience upgrade)
The only missing feature is "center channel boost", so maybe someone have a custom krypton apk with it.
Thanks

That's great news, i read there were issues with kodi / shield and multi-channel audio pass-thru.
Thanks

Hi All - I've read most of this thread, and although admittedly some of the conversation is hard for me to follow/understand, am I correct in assuming that I should have no problem with HD Audio passthrough (DTS, DTS-HD, True-HD) as well as 4k 10 bit HEVC from my Shield through my Yamaha RX-V679BL (HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2) AVR to my LG OLED 65E6P (HDMI 2.0/HDCP2.2)?

I think most of the problems people in this thread were having is related to AVRs that have HDMI 2.0 going into TVs only supporting HDMI 1.4. Am I correct in that assumption?

Exactly. Netflix recommend HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0(DD+). A lot of equipment eq TV: https://devices.netflix.com/pl_pl/recommendedtv/2016/ It has HDCP 2.2 and DD+ just receivers must have HDCP 2.2/

Hi Guys,

Has anyone of you been successful with 5.1 DTS/AC3 passthrough with USB / Optical out? I have a Logitech z906 which can decode DTS and AC3 but only accepts Optical / Coaxial and when I tried to output 5.1 surround sound from Kodi with 2 USB audio cards (Asus Xonar U3 and Asus Xonar U7) neither of the 2 worked, not even stereo. Can you recommend a cheap reliable USB audio w/. optical out that will pass-through 5.1 AC3/DTS from Kodi? I've seen other recommending Turtle Beach Micro II but there are 2 problems with that: 1. out of stock everywhere, 2. can only output 2 channel stereo so not a big deal.

Thanks in advance.

You should be fine with something like those HDMI-Audio-Splitters (https://www.amazon.com/Extractor-Splitter-Output-Optical-Digital/dp/B01I9JG70A/). I've been using one of these kind a long time. Only limitation you have on optical / toslink is that you'll only get DTS/AC3 5.1 sound, no DTS HD, Dolby Atmos or all those newer formats.

Hi and thanks a lot for the confirmation. I've just sent the Shield back to Amazon but now that I know it works with that sound extractor I will order one again.

OK so with any MKV I watch I get this one studder per episode (only one, maybe 2 on long episodes). Where it studders than moves super quick to catch up.
Any resolution to that issue?

Guys. Shield 2017. Kodi 17.1 installed. Watching any movie clip, the motion is sped up. Similar to having motion plus enabled on Samsung TVs. Does anyone know which setting I need to change?

Hi

I have a Nvidia Shield from 2015 with the latest updates on it. Yesterday when I change to a new reciever/speakers I run into a issue with both Kodi 17 and SPMC 16.5.5.
What happens is that if I start a movie and want it to have passthrough i have to first disable it and then again enable it to get it working. I didnt have this problem before with old reciever.

I have always followed the recommended settings by SPMC from here: https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/Recommended-passthrough-audio-settings-for-SPMC,-NVIDIA-Shield-TV-and-AV-Receivers

New reciever is a Denon x1300w.

Anyone got any ideas what I can test to fix this problem? Is there any needed settings for audio Passthrough on Nvidia OS?

my friend you are facing a known Nvidia Shield bug. the problem is that your Denon Avr-X1300W have Hdmi 2.0 / HDCP 2.2 interface.
Refresh rate switching doesn't work if the AVR is HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 and the TV / display is HDMI/HDCP 1.4.
Also HD Passthrough have issues in Kodi 17 and latest Spmc.
To fix HD Passthrough and have audio recognized by Denon Avr you have to use Refresh Rate to always and to put 3 seconds delay in SPMC/KODI settings in Pause during refresh rate.
Now about Refresh rate switching that doesn't work I use A HDFury Integral between Shield and Denon Avr( I have Denon AVR-X4200W).
HDFury Integral is expensive but fixes all HDCP connection problems. You can also use a hdmi splitter switch with HDMI 1.3 compatibility that is cheaper than HDFury Integral.
I hope to make you understand the problem and how to fix.
I have already reported through feedback to Nvidia this problem (Refresh rate switching doesn't work if the AVR is HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 and the TV / display is HDMI/HDCP 1.4)
but until 5.1 Shield firmware no fix for this.
Be well my friend. Spiros.

Fixed the issue. Different HDMI port. Means it was configured to default. Had to configure all my settings for the hdmi port and was good.

Samsung TV. LED 42" 1080p. 3 years old.
Each HDMI port on the TV has its own profile. HDMI 1 = disable motion plus, for example
HDMI 2 = connect Shield. Motion is enabled as had the default factory settings on that port. I have to disable motion plus while HDMI 2 is selected / being used to display on screen to configure it.
