Sad Nobody have any idea about my issues?

As a reminder:

1/ Color banding issue. Main shield settings page refuses to change settings. No settings I can find in Kodi
2/ Audio Video sync being very weird. Have to set nvidia settings way out of sync which sort-of fixes it in Kodi, but still strange effects on start/stop

I would never describe Samsung to Hisense an upgrade, maybe this is where your problem lies.

Hi,
Someone with the model 2017 16Gb, can you tell me if from "Settings>About>Power Off" you can turn off the shield?
Thanks

Yes, It will. You will need to remove and reinsert the power plug to restart. The unit is meant to be left in a 'sleep' mode. There is no need to power off the unit, under normal conditions.

RE: nVidia Shield TV (2015 & 2017 Models) - UPDATED: Jan 26 2017 - PatK - 2017-03-06

The menu choice is restart or sleep now, and for me sleep turns off the LED, and things cool down. The truth might be trickle voltage holding up last configuration, so instant start looks good, ala sleep mode on a windows PC with a wake on command, while restart.. re-boots.

Using "Settings>About>Power Off" the device is dead as a door-nail, no wake up possible, just unplug & plugin will shake it back to a full reboot.

Actually Yes, this is the truth .

Hello,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I've been using Kodi on a desktop since version 14 with great satisfaction, and switched this week-end to a 2017 shield, plugged to a Yamaha (RX-V679) receiver and a Sony (HW45ES, fullHD) projector.

Despite following all recommended settings, I can't seem to have frame rate switching working :
- the shield settings are 59.94Hz (24p is available)
- in Kodi / SPMC, I can only choose between 50, 59.94 and 60Hz
- frame rate switching is set to start / stop (tried always without changes)
- sync audio to audio is OFF for audio pass-through

the projector can't handle 4K, and all my content is made of 24p movies. No matter what I do, everything the projector gets is 60Hz. I have set the switch delay to 3 then 4s, but I'm not seeing any switch at all.

I have just read this morning that I should use another app, TvHz, is that correct ? Am i missing something ?

RE: nVidia Shield TV (2015 & 2017 Models) - UPDATED: Jan 26 2017 - txemix - 2017-03-06

@RadarFR: There is a known problem with auto frame rate switching not working when receiver is HDCP 2.2 compliant and display is HDCP 1.4. Try a direct connection (without the receiver) to confirm the cause is having a mixed HDCP chain.

Also, I see somewhere that your projector supports HDCP 2.2 on HDMI 2 port, if that's correct then auto frame rate should work using it.

For more information see https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/901911/auto-refresh-rate-switching-not-working/

RE: nVidia Shield TV (2015 & 2017 Models) - UPDATED: Jan 26 2017 - RadarFR - 2017-03-06

Thx, the whole chain should be HDCP 2.2 (I'll update the projector's firmware tonight, and I already switched to input #2). I'll also test with non-HDCP inputs on the AVR, and with a direct connection.

What puzzles me is that I can't manually change anything : the sole purpose of the shield is to playback 24p content, I wouldn't mind staying in 24Hz all the time, but I don't have this setting in the list.

The mixed chain problem is quite old now, but I think 5.0 update introduced this new issue that even manual change is not possible (stuck to 60).

I have a 2015 Shield unit that I've been using with SPMC for awhile now. I saw Kodi updated to v17 so I wanted to try it out, but the app hangs every time I open it. I had Kodi installed previously, so I figured I would need to delete the old Kodi folder, but neither of my file management apps will let me delete the org.xbmc.kodi folder.

Any idea on how to fix this? SPMC is fine for now but I might want to move back to Kodi at some point.

RE: nVidia Shield TV (2015 & 2017 Models) - UPDATED: Jan 26 2017 - rodalpho - 2017-03-06

You should be able to go to settings, apps, find Kodi, then delete all data and cache. That will reset it.

I'm not at home so I can't check the exact path to get there, but you should be able to find it.

Here's the path for Kodi (SPMC is similar but in its own folder)

\Android\data\org.xbmc.kodi

FYI, I managed to sort things out on my setup : the firmware updates for the projector and the receiver gave no results, but I managed to get the framerate switching to 24 after rebooting and plugging the shield directly to the projector.

Got back to the original shield > AVR > proj, rebooted, everything is fine.

I believe this either comes from a setting properly taken into account after a reboot, or because the shield need to be booted after other equipment
