But there weren't any fixes for that.

I believe those were fixed since Experience 7.0 itself. There are lots of arguments on whether the colourspace switching is actually working correctly or not but for my eyes, they seem ok and comparable to the non hdr version

On Experience 6.3 they were just awful and lifeless looking.

Yes, they did change something, as I noticed a difference as well.

HDR content is not completely washed out anymore when played on a non-HDR TV.
That said, I'd say it's got a ways to go before being comparable to the non-HDR version of the same content.

It becomes very obvious if you have 2 copies (one HDR and one not) of a film and check them back to back in Kodi.

I was checking out my 4K HDR copy of Deadpool 2 and then immediately switched over to a 1080p blu-ray copy of the film and checked the same scenes. You can definitely tell the colours are still a lot better looking in the 1080p copy.

You might be right. So much better than it was but could be better. Just compared avengers which is in SDR with the HDR version.

Oh well at least it's watchable now tho lol. Previously it was vomit inducing.... [emoji14]

Also worth pointing out that SDR HD Blu-rays are likely to look better than HDR UHD Blu-rays converted to SDR even with reasonably well implemented tone-mapping anyway.  The main reason we accelerated out decision to upgrade our UHD SDR TV to HDR was buying a UHD Blu-ray player and some UHD Blui-rays.  The HDR to SDR tone mapping was never particularly good - whatever setting you chose for it.  There is a big difference between an SDR grade done by an expert and an automatic HDR to SDR conversion.

So what setting are you using on the Sheild for this colourpsace switching ? Mine still looks washed out as hell and awful. Hae you guys tried switching between 2 copies ? Doing so maybe you will also notice the difference ? It may not be as apparent when just watching it alone, but comparing it back to back you realise how bad it actually is.

Unless of course, I have those settings wrong in both the sheild and Kodi ?

There are no settings for colourspace switching.

Hello everyone,

I've noticed something really weird since oreo update: The audio doesn't work only for one movie in my playlist, the audio track is AC3. I've watched this movie before oreo update and audio worked ! Also i don't understand why only this movie because i tried other movies with AC3 and it works perfectly (?).
Do you think it's because shield's audio settings have been modified after the oreo update or maybe something else?
I'm using HDMI passthrough (Shield =>HDMI=>TV=>Optical out=> Home Theater)

Thank you for your help.

I had my shield set up the same as yours shield to TV and optical to cinema system and was not getting good surround sound.

At the weekend I connected my shield HDMI directly to my cinema system and the audio is amazing.

So much so I think I will do the same with my Humax box.

I only connected them to my TV and optical initially, as my TV had 3 HDMI in connections versus my 2 HDMI in connections on my cinema system

Is this with the default theme or a custom one?

The image shown is the Aura Skin. I have the same issue using the Kodi default skin.
