Unauthorized Subtitles For Movies & TV Shows Are Illegal, Amsterdam Court Rules

Personally, I find this ruling petty. I believe that if you legally purchase a movie or tv title, but the movie studio fails to enable your subtitle language, then what harm can be done if you create your own?

But... what does this mean for Kodi? Does it mean that all the Subtitle Add-ons now become Banned Addons, and is the Subtitle sub-forum shut down?

Kodi bases its rules on USA law, not Dutch.

It seems like the big mistake here was the sub group suing BREIN. Why would you do that? I'm not aware of BREIN, the MPAA, or any other industry group going after fansub people before now, and I can't imagine they'd do so in the future. That would be giving up free labor.

Brein have taken down subtitle sites in the past, unfortunately the only link I can find now for a case back in 2013 comes up as unsafe so I'm not going to link to it here
