it's been some time and I wonder if you've found any way to display HEIF/HEIC images? I'm running 18.7 on NAS

Have u tried the HEIF image decoder addon ? It's in the official kodi repo

When I go to Add-ons/Picture add-ons I don't see any HEIF decoder.

When I go to Add-ons/Picture add-ons I don't see any HEIF decoder.

Use the search feature, that's how I found it, also it's not in pictures addons section , it should be under the image decode section. Hope it will help.

I'm hoping someone can help me. No matter what I do, I can't find this add on. First, I don't an Image Decode section. Second, a search gave me no results. I'm certainly not a Kodi expert so I'm hoping someone can guide me on this. Thanks!

What OS? if some version of Linux then the binary addons will be in the PPA/repository for that Linux version.

What OS? if some version of Linux then the binary addons will be in the PPA/repository for that Linux version.

So you need to install from the Team Kodi Ubuntu PPA see https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_for_Linux and https://kodi.wiki/view/Ubuntu_binary_add-ons

If you're not sure of the package name use https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc/+archive/ubuntu/ppa to browse PPA to find the package is called, in this case it's kodi-imagedecoder-heif
