Some Kodi movie posters & artwork suddenly missing - JP_hope - 2017-10-19

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to Kodi. Installed it for the first time 3 weeks ago. Living in China where downloads & censorship are abundant I been downloading movies for a while now. I have now over well over 1000 movies and at least 3 dozen TV shows.

When I first installed Kodi I was amazed at the result. It organized everything perfectly.
Recently I started noticing that both TV shows and movies were showing problems displaying artwork and movie info.

I'm using the basic scraper I think it is IMDB.

Can anyone offer a way to fix this?
Thank you very much!

Hello JP_hope

A tricky thing to try and diagnose with the info given, and the nature of the problem We will start off with a debug log. The instructions are in my signature. Use the Basic method. Once you have enabled debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging, restart Kodi then replicate the problem. Once done upload to pastebin and link back here. Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs

Someone reported a similar problem yesterday... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=322583 The response from @PatK may hold relevance with your large library of over 1000 movies...

Hello, thank you for the quick response. I'll be more mindful of the site's guidelines in the future.
I followed the steps for the debugging process and this is the result:

https://paste.ubuntu.com/25770963/

Hope this helps.

Regarding the actual problem only about 10% of the movies are missing artwork. The majority of the movies seems to be fine. The same appears to be happening with TV shows. Some movies and TV shows are both missing posters, descriptions, and

I tried the "refresh" option for a given movie to check if the scraper is the problem. I got a error that says "couldn't download information - Unable to connect to remote server"

Thank you

Can you name a few movies that are not scraping artwork please.

Would The.Ring.II.2005.HDTV.720p.x264.YIFY.mkv be one of the movies without artwork?

RE: Some Kodi movie posters & artwork suddenly missing - JP_hope - 2017-10-19

Yes! The Ring II is not showing any artwork, as well as dead pool, shooter, drone (2017), etc.
I been checking several sites, some suggest re-installing Kodi. My library is well organized name wise. I'm thinking if it has anything to do with add-ons that should do it. It wouldn't take too long.
On the other hand I'm thinking this might be the Chinese great fire-wall. These days most VPNs are not working well, maybe that's the reason for the error "unable to connect to remote server".

RE: Some Kodi movie posters & artwork suddenly missing - Karellen - 2017-10-19

Ok, I can pick out why a few are not scraping, and they are all caused by incorrect naming. You have...

E:\Movies II\The Ring II (2005)\The.Ring.II.2005.HDTV.720p.x264.YIFY.mkv Can you have a look at the scraper site and check the name there.
also
E:\Movies II\Warrior's gate (2016)\Warrior's.Gate.2016.1080p.BluRay.x264-[YTS.AG].mp4 I could find no listing for this movie at the scraper site, which also indicates it is incorrectly named.

I can't stress enough the importance on confirming the movie name with the scraper site.

Also looking at your file naming and directory naming, I trust you have enabled "All movies are in separate directories..." in the scraper settings.

As for the other titles you mentioned, I could not see issues as they are already scraped so Kodi and the log just ignored them. If you want me to check, then you will need to remove them from the library and rescrape them while the log is running.

No, add-ons won't interfere with scraping. As for the fire-wall, its hard to understand why it would be so selective. But try correct title naming and see if that fixes the issue.

Thank you sooo much!!
It was the naming method after all.
Can't believe such a simple thing gave me so much trouble!

Thank you very much for your help! Hope to learn more from this site. Kodi is the best!

Do you want to see your library full of art? download the "artwork beef" addon,is better than artwork dowloader, the creator of the addons rmrector,he updates the addon constantly, and provides support

This is what I did today it worksTo install this add-on you must do so from the Add-on manager from within Kodi by going to
  1. The home screen
  2. Add-ons
  3. Download
  4. Program Add-ons
  5. Artwork Downloader
  6. Install

@SamuiMike

Incorrect. Artwork Downloader is no longer maintained and is marked as broken in the Repository. Maybe you meant Artwork Beef?
