[solved] MCE Remote with Lubuntu 16.04 [systemd] and Kodi 17.5 - mcerem - 2017-10-30

Hello userexperts,

i want to use my MCE ir-remote with Kodi 17.5.

With how-to will not work with Lubuntu 16.04.
I don t find the add-on MCERemote.

Now i will use ir-keytable.

Where can i find a working keytable for my mce ir-remote?
My Lubuntu 16.04 Kernel is 4.4.0-97-generic.

You need to restart the X server (restart kodi service or reboot), because it only triggers on KEYs that are mapped during the start of X.

You also need to load your keymap with ir-keytable befor you restart X.

You checked that already: https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Kodi_Remote/ and basically try ir-keytable to actually test what you entered. Then make sure X server is started after that ir-keytable was started, that needs to be done on every start.

Basically you just have to follow the wiki for ubuntu as your issue is not related to kodi but to managing your linux installation. Try with ir-keytable -t and see what the terminal spits out when you press the key. You really get KEY_ENTER / KEY_OK on the command line?

After verifying that you actually really get this output on the terminal (no kodi involved at all), put kodi into debugging, restart it and press this key multiple times. Also verify that you exactly get this key in xev (another utility for checking input)

Turn debugging on:
From the Main menu, select Settings (gear icon at top of the menu) → System Settings → Logging and turn on Enable debug logging. You will see some weird text pop up on the screen.
Note: Sometimes you might be asked to enable additional debug logging "components", which is an option in this same Settings/System/Debugging area. If you were not asked to enable anything extra, then don't worry about those additional settings.

Kodi 17.5 will not work wiht KEY_ENTER, i can use KEY_LEFT, KEY_RIGHT, KEY_UP and KEY_DOWN.
