Hello.
I've successfully installed kodi 17.3 from kodi-old (for xenial) on Ubuntu 17.10 on S912, but it got a lot of errors on startup:

Commands
sudo apt-get install --reinstall kodi kodi-bin
rm -rf ~/.kodi
didn't solved the problem.

Can you tell me, how to fix that?
Thank you!

I strongly suggest looking into libreelec, which has several builds for s912 boxes.

Hi! Thank you for your answer Smile.
Yep, I am on https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/5848-8-2-2-3-libreelec-8-2-for-s912/ now, but author of the distrib discontinued devepment.
So, I decided to start Kodi on Linux (I am using balbes150's ubuntu_mate_17_04_3.14_20171216.img.xz from https://yadi.sk/d/srrtn6kpnsKz2/Linux ) on my Beelink GT1 Ultimate TV box. I've updated the distrib upto 17.10 with do-release-upgrade, added http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ to the apt sources.list , updated system with apt update; apt-upgrade.
Kodi installed, but looks like I need some OpenGL driver. In the Libreelec kszaq made it via some "These builds use libhybris and Android gralloc Mali driver to provide OpenGL for Kodi". I don't know now, how he have done it and how to port that to the "my" Ubuntu artful distributive.
Am I correct about drivers?

Sorry you are way above my knowledge level!

this is not going to work. You need a kodi built specifically for AML devices, which your debian build for x86 is not.

read the forum thread carefully:

Only the development of the KODI17 version is discontinued (LibreELEC 8.2), because it's stable and KODI18 (LibreELEC 9.0) is on the way and it would be a waste of time to patch the old version and in a few weeks/month start testing again in the new version. Developers of the different amlogic branches even have joined their forces, so I would say the future for at least LibreELEC 9 on your S912 device is secure.

If you want a new hobby or don't like LibreELEC then you can try to use KODI on an ARM Ubuntu and despair of the Mali drivers, but otherwise I would recommend using the stable version under https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/5848-8-2-2-3-libreelec-8-2-for-s912/ or if you want an instable and bleeding edge version then try to use the in development version https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/10301-8-90-5-libreelec-9-0-alpha-for-s905-s912-devices/
