No audio on files with AAC 5.1 - pedram - 2018-07-13

I have a Xiaomi Mi Box 3 that was recently updated to Android Oreo 8. After the update, files with AAC 5.1 audio no longer work in Kodi 17.6 (video plays but no audio).
AAC 2.0 works fine though. Turning pass-through on and off in the audio settings does not make a difference. Those same files work fine in Plex. My device is connected to a receiver that supports AC3, so I'd imagine the audio should be transcoded to AC3, but that doesn't seem to be happening.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? I've tried fiddling around with the audio settings and couldn't get anything to fix it, but I'd be open to suggestions.
Do I need to post logs for this kind of problem?

Not a Kodi problem.
And you should use Kodi 18 as Kodi 17 was abandoned months ago.

Thanks for the info. I thought that since the audio worked with Plex that perhaps it was something with Kodi.
I don't want to use Leia yet because it's still in alpha. I'm waiting for it to become stable before upgrading.

Edit: The link you posted lists AAC audio issues with Plex, not Kodi. AAC seems to work for me in Plex, but not in Kodi.

Just got an update for the box. Fixed HDCP 2.2 and NTFS drive issues, but still no audio with AAC 5.1 in Kodi.

I figured out what was wrong. I had set the speaker configuration to 5.1. With that option, it doesn't give me the option to transcode AAC for some reason. After I set it to 2.0 that option appeared and I got my 5.1 sound back.
